You never stop dreaming. You only stop remember dreams as well. The things you're trying to achieve is improving your ability to be able to remember dreams so that when you are aware inside one, you will remember it after waking. Dreams are stored in a different part of the brain than waking memories but like any other muscle, it can be exercised and improved. Start off with trying to get up your recall to at least 1-2 dreams a night before really trying to focus on becoming lucid. No point in knowing you're in a dream if you can't remember.

Welcome back to the dreamscape! It's a lovely place where magical things happen and reality is given a big "fuck you".
