Dreams as one long reality check

What would happen if you tried to condition dreams to become one long reality check? By this, I mean that, instead of having a sort of "magic moment" where a non-lucid turns into a lucid by an RC, you set out to make every dream a sequence of many different RCs? So, you'd start off - on going to bed - with an affirmation like: "I'll reality check all the way through a dream" instead of the conventional: "I'll realise I'm dreaming then do a reality check" type. Once you become lucid, you continue doing RCs until the dream ends.

I make the assumption that doing RCs in lucid dreams would carry over to non-lucid dreams. In the short term you'd want to turn your dreams into an RCing habit, then longer term, once you achieve regular lucidity - you could relax a little and just enjoy the lucid dreams without RCing.

Want to know what might happen? You'll condition your mind, with expectation and intent, to have dreams filled with RC's, but the RC's will simply become part of your dream -- in other words, you'll be dreaming that you're doing reality checks, rather than actually doing them, which will do very little to bring about lucidity. Worse, your dreams might prove really helpful and start giving you the logical conclusion to dreaming about RC's: Non-lucid's about being lucid...at least that's what happened to me. Expectation is a helluva thing.

RC's are an excellent tool for trumping expectation and consciously tricking your dreaming mind into letting some self-awareness invade its space. But they truly are a tool to hone in waking life. To include RC's in your expectations and intent, and thus making them part of the dream, could do more harm than good.

Personally, I don't get it. But good luck with your theory!

It's just a thought experiment - I'm not in love with the idea and on a mission to prove to everybody how great it is Iit's quicker to find out if it has potential by popping it on DV and benefiting from the input from more experienced LDers.

An interesting theory, but there might be a snag - reality checks by themselves don't cause lucidity. So, stretching out this reality-checking period doesn't really do much in the long run except fill your dreams with more RCs.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
