Reaching Alpha State of mind then to LD

Hi, im pretty sure this is same as WILD, as everytime you eneter any sort of dream you pass through the Alpha state which is about 8-14Hz.

Im very interested in bieng able to reach alpha state when i want but i need some words of advice and guidance from someone exprienced, who knows details and knows how to relax and calm the mind so it can reach 8-14Hz into the alpha state where as your awake n sitting or liying the dream starts to appear and you just jump into it. i have only been able to achieve this a few times when going to sleep, or if i woke up middle of the night and went back to sleep.

iv beent trying the silva methos and some other relaxing methods, weather if it is to breath slowly or count back from 100-1, everything i try at the end i eventually get bored and chat to my self about day to day stuff, so i need to know when i relax what i should, or what i should focus/pay attention to or some sort of guideline to follow which would lower my brain activity while keeping me focused and awake so i can reach alpha state.

i can get reasonably relaxed to the point where i feel muscles on my head or face viberating gently and some strange feelings but thats as far as i can go with out falling sleep or just getting frustrated and saying thats enough.

      any advice will be appriciated

      thanks in advance

your brain generally functions between 0.1 to 20 Hz (cycles per second) that is how your brain activity is measured.

so when your awake your somewhere between 14-20Hz and when your in very deep sleep your 1-3Hz.

when you WILD to get to a LD your between 8-14Hz which is also called the Alpha Level.

that is why people meditate and relax so they can lower brain activity and reach diffrent areas of conciousness and im here asking for advice on relaxation so i can reach that level more consistently.

      sorry if it confused you

When you are awake and alert your brain is in Beta. When relaxed... watching television or lounging about, your brain is in Alpha. The next transitory brain state is Theta. In this state your are still awake but possibly daydreaming, meditating or in a form of self-hypnosis. Have you ever driven somewhere and not realized how you got there? You were in Theta. The next brainwave state in the progression to sleep is Delta. In this state you are asleep. So, to answer your question, Alpha is not the state you should be shooting for. Concentrate on reaching Theta.... and visualize once you get there! Good luck to you.

thanks for the reply, im already aware of everything you said, every stage Beta, Alpha, Theta, delta have a diffrent purpose/function.

when your relaxing and day dreaming your in alpha but a higher level of alpha 12-16Hz im interested in the deeper level of alpha at about 8-10Hz where parts of the dream start to form with images and sounds, which is pretty much what WILD/LD is. for you to have a LD you will have to be in alpha, any deeper thats when you loose the LD and go into a normal dream where you are not in control.

i want to master alpha before moving deeper.

      thanks anyways

I think Reaching the alpha state is little bit difficult. you should relax, be calm and deep breathe when you are Wilding
Meditation usually do deep breathing and focusing one point. so I think you do these to get alpha state
