      IILD method of induction

So = inception induced lucid dreaming.
Basically you put earphones in, and set a delay on your ipod, after figuring out your REM.
You get it to play, and you should hear it while you're dreaming, and realise you're dreaming.
Seems like a sure fire way to become lucid to me, thoughts please!

I doubt this, sounds like it would just wake you up as soon as the music starts playing, plus not many people can delay their music to start up when they are in REM and not many people can fall asleep with their ear phones in.

This operates on the same principle as the flashing lights of lucid dream assisting masks (you know, like the nova-dreamer and such). It is by no means a sure-fire way to get lucid, even with the REM detection technology which eliminates the trial and error of finding REM cycles. The brightness (or volume in this case) must be at the right intensity or it will either wake you up or go unnoticed. Even if you hear the music in your dream, there is a good chance that it will just be incorporated into your dream and you will remain non-lucid. When done correctly, these electronics can make it easier to lucid dream, but they are not stand-alone techniques.

Edit: Just to be clear, I do not mean to say that lucid dreaming masks are ineffective. A lot of research has gone into them and statistical evidence has shown that they do, in face, increase the chance of lucid dreams. I just wanted to point out that it isn't as simple (for most people) as plugging in some headphones and lucid dreaming.

hey just get some sleep phones if the head phones fuck you off, just search it in google, theyr bout $40 US, i dont know if that technique would work with an ipod but with a laptop next to your bed and the right software with something that raise's the volume slowly it could work, but then its just kinda getting complicated but still it could work

Hmm, interesting idea...I'm not sure it would work for me, though. I'm such a light sleeper that any sudden noise or voice, even quiet, would wake me up. :S

Refine it a little more and see if you can streamline it and simplify it more. This is a dreaming community, here to help, not a "shoot down every single new method that isn't in the wiki" community.
