      This "Phase"

I can get addicted to things pretty fast, trying to Lucid Dream is definitely one of them. I knew about lucid dreams before, but all the types of inducing them bored me (basically, on other sites, everything revolved around your dream journal). It wasn't very interesting for me and I dropped the idea.

Then, after quite some time, I found this site. I got hooked almost immediately. I spent hours dailiy reading all the guides possible and ideas for successful LD-ing. All my thoughts revolved around them!

In the next few days, I was amazed. Almost all the rememberable dreams I had were about me either being on this site and browsing for random LD-related stuff, or me trying to WILD. Literally, day after day, my dreams were only LD-related.

Unfortunately, these dreams didn't make me go lucid, but, if I was just a bit less lazy, I could've trained myself to RC whenever visiting these sites. This would've also happend in the dreams, and what do you get? A bunch of LDs!

Now, what I read and what I experienced pretty much prooved the fact that what we mostly thing about during the day and what we mostly do, we also dream about (Like me having dreams of slaying dragons after getting addicted to Skyrim). Well, my maint point is, that these newbie LD-ers who come and are in this phase where they get a lot of dreams related to this site to use as the right time to RC. I believe, as long as anyone is obsessed with LDs as I was, it would work and contribute to more lucids.

      Any thoughts?

Yes that is common, and again, I believe, comes down to awareness. Instead of daydreaming in this 'omg dreamviews dreamviews' state or 'omg skyrim skyrim' - maintain awareness by perceiving as an obersever, instead of being sucked into the situation, or dream.

I agree with you, the more you are obsessed or focused with an object, the more chances that you will achieve it. Just continue with it and you'll have more success. It's just a matter of motivation .

I remember reaching the stage or phase you are at now. I was on DV for literally the whole day (it was raining outside) and I posted in some many threads and made so many (mostly waste of time) threads. But then after little success I fell out of it, and not much has happened since.

What I'm getting at is whatever you try to do, at least, AT LEAST stick with this and don't let it slip. It's a wonderful thing even if it seems hard or nigh on impossible. A lot of things were deemed impossible until someone did it right? Well loads of people have had lucid dreams so it certainly isn't impossible. If I had thought that more I wouldn't be in the rut I'm in now.

Certainly being obsessed with something makes you dream about it. I too dream a lot about whatever game I'm playing (currently Skyrim, oh lawd) or my school which I attend. For example a bird would dream about flying more than say being inside one of those fast moving metal boxes it sees a few times a day going along roads.
Pure obsession doesn't work however, as I'm sure you have been obsessed with other things in your life, but you never had a LD about them.

I would say obsession and dedication are key factors to being successful, but knowing how to do each technique is the most valuable thing. People often read over the wiki and think having a general grasp of a technique is good enough. It rarely is.

Thank you for your replies. I agree to everything what you said. I wanted to just make a note of this phase most of the obsessers experience, and that they should make good use of it. Now, I'm not nearly into LD as I was before, and all of these DV dreams have vanished (I'm still trying, though ) But it was my mistake, and I hope someone else will not make it.

In my opinion general awareness seems like a better habit to cultivate than random RCs throughout the day. When using reality checks that are based on external factors (like the ones you mentioned, DreamViews, Skyrim...) you become dependent on certain cues that risk being subject to change. For example you stopped having DV related dreams after your big obsession faded a bit. With awareness you don't rely on these specific external factors but instead develop a greater consciousness of your environment and thus you are much more likely to detect a dream state.

Yeah, that makes sense. However, I didn't mean all the dreamer should expect is a DV dream. Just to simply remember to do a RC when on the site, because there's a chance of it happening.

There is very little you can do to actually decrease your cahnce of having a LD. Maybe certain drugs/lifestyles, but 99% of the things you do will help you to become lucid. Whether it's doing random RCs (as long as you do them thoroughly), or practicing ADA (all day awareness) your chances of experiencing a LD will almost always go up, even just by thinking about it.
Have a question? Send me a pm.

I agree. However, if you just stop thinking about LDs completely, the chance of having them will go down as well. Unless you're one of those naturals.

It's not entirely true for me, though. I spend about 8 hours per day lurking this place (while at work, lalala..) and I haven't dreamt of this site once.
I also think of someone I have a serious crush on throughout the day (like literally every spare thought is about him), and I don't dream of him either (unless I summon him in a lucid dream).

This is true for me also, apart from the thinking about a crush lol. What do you find makes you lucid most of the time MissLucy? do you practise any techniques?

I practice WILD, and am getting rather good at it, if I may say so myself. Most of them, though, happen accidentally. I'll just be dosing off after being awake in the middle of the night for a bit (not actually getting up, so it's not WBTB, but I stay awake long enough for it not to be a DEILD), and suddenly I'll feel the pre-SP signs. Slight vibrations, colour swirls, that stuff. So then I decide whether or not I want to do a WILD. Sometimes I just can't be bothered, lol, or it's too much effort if I need my sleep.. If I decide not to, I just move around a bit, maybe turn over and just sleep normally. If I decide to WILD, I just tag along for the ride. Sometimes the hallucinations annoy me and I decide not to WILD.

I'm lucky, I go into SP naturally pretty much every time I wake up long enough in the middle of the night..
