was able to reazlie I was in a dream, but could not attain lucidity, help!

      Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share what happened last night trying to achieve lucidity.
Before I explain what happened, I want to share my dream sign/RC...
Almost every night, whether I am walking around or driving, I usually take a look up at the sky and look at the moon. No real reason why I do it, but I just like looking up at the sky. So I guess this became a habit and unknowingly became my dream sign.

Last night while dreaming, I remember being outside looking up at a full moon. Then I saw the moon rotate around the earth spinning around and around at ridiculous speeds. Because I knew this was not possible in real life, I realized that I was in a dream. I did not freak out or get overly excited knowing I realized I was in a dream and tried to attain lucidity. But nothing happened. Being frustrated because I couldn't control anything I soon woke up.

What did I do wrong? After realizing that I was in a dream, I remained calm and tried to control it but nothing happened. I thought I was doing something right but failed. Maybe even though I thought I was calm, did I wake up because I was actually excited?

What are some things I can do in my dream to get that lucidity after realizing that I am dreaming?

It sounds like you might of been dreaming about having a lucid dream... but only you know for sure. If you are aware enough to do a reality check in a dream you are probably in a LD.

Once you realize you are dreaming, you become lucid, wheather you have any control or not. So, you had a lucid dream Congrats. Now you can check out some tutorials about control, but I would recommend first looking into stabilizing to make the dream last longer.

Since you have a moon for a dream sign, do reality check everytime you see it. You can even say 'next time I'm dreaming I look at the moon and realize I'm dreaming'. But this will only work, if you see the moon in your dreams often. If not, check out the sporadic awareness technique tutorial. If you don't have a dream journal, starting one will help you with remembering dreams. Happy dreams

Yes - i think you misunderstand the meaning of a lucid dream; a lucid dream is when you are aware you are dreaming whilst in the dream. What you are talking about is dream control. Dream control is all about confidence and expectations - if you expect something to happen but you aren't very confident about it, it is more likely to fail. Visualising can help with expectations. Be confident in yourself and visualise, do it naturally, and dream control will not be a problem.
