I need to know what to do.

I've tried LD'ing for almost a week now and to no prevail. I know this is a short amount of time, and I plan on pushing my self more, but I need answers. Almost every night I try to lucid dream by doing WILD. What happens is I go into SP and that's about it. I try staring at the colors and symbols in my eyes and slowly drift off with them, but it seems like they just fade away, and I end up lying there with nothing to do. I have heard footsteps once and a whooshing sound for brief moments, but once I start welcoming my self into a dream it just fades away. I never see or here anything, all it does is keep me awake. I have school the next morning, and i'm not staying up 2hrs after I've made no progress after 1hr. Once I get out of my SP my bones feel all creaky, and i feel like I just woke up from a long nap, and I end up just going to bed. Anything I need to be doing?

You can't WILD before you go to sleep, read a guide on it. WBTB WILD or do it in an afternoon nap

      true that ^^

Yes, you should give it more time. If you'd like to double your chances to have a lucid, start practicing MILD/DILD + daytime awareness. Happy dreams

I swear you should listen to these two. I have been doing all of this for a longish time, and I can only succeed with a pre-sleep WILD say 1 in 14 trys. So it is not impossable, but it takes so long to move through the nREM phases, that you will almost always give up. If you look at the first stages of sleep, leading up to the first REM cycle, you normally spend 15-45 minutes in each of the 3 nREM phases. So the soonest you would assume a vivid LD would form on its own is 45 minutes past SP, and as long as 135 minutes. You can get there if you are up for meditating for 2 hours plus the time to reach SP. In the middle of your sleep cycle, the phases can flip back and forth at will. They can resume where they left off after a spell of being awake. You hope to wake near or in REM, so when you star your mid-night WILD attempt, it takes between 5 to 45 minutes. I feel doing it this way is about 5 times as likely to work.

Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
