Every time I go lucid, I end up forgetting about it?

I went lucid for a brief moment in a dream I had today.

I was walking along with my best friend John and somehow realized the scene was a dream, said, "Oh shit dude I'm dreaming right now," and then started doing walking on all fours in front of him. I realized I was doing it for probably 15 dream seconds and then the dream continued as normal.

Was I dreaming about being lucid?

If not, then what's the next step? Rubbing my hands? Spinning?

Sounds like you did get lucid. Rubbing your hands is a good stabilization technique, but spinning is not, because that will most likely wake you up, or transport you into another dreamscene. Check out some tutorials in DV Wiki for more techniques. Also, I believe you will have better awareness/longer dream, if you practice daytime awareness. Here are two links to awareness tutorials.

There is a guide here by CosmicIron that talks about stabilization and stuff. But basically I'm just using from his guide one stabilization technique he uses. If you start crawling on the floor, you use basically your whole body to do this, which in turn stabilizes the dream. Or Mzzkc suggests in one of his tutorials, is to take a bite out of a tree. Literally. I've done this once, only it was just a twig. Didn't do much, though. You experiment to see what will happen with those two methods.

Oh and, what you said happens to me too. I get lucid and usually forget about it. :/ Seems like I'm not aware enough to actually remember I'm lucid and to go do awesome stuff!

      Good luck!

I think you were lucid! Don't feel down, this is actually pretty common.

You need to remember that when you become lucid you should just stop and take in everything around you. Stabilize the dream. You want to use each of your senses in order to make the dream more stable. First of all, keep reminding yourself you're in a dream. Then reach down and touch the ground and anything around you. Then smell anything you can. Just use your senses! After you feel like the dream is stabilized, you can continue doing whatever you want. Good luck and more lucids to you!

Sweet! I've been trying to practice ADA as much as I can when I leave the house (since I stay at home most of the day) and have upped the dosage on doing RCs and stuff. Now I just gotta get in there and try this other stuff.

How often does one have to re-stabilize dreams once lucidity is attained?
