A matter of sleeping long enough?

Sometimes for me, all it takes is the right amount of sleep then I usually end up having a lucid dream. Perhaps it is that I reach REM or deep enough sleep, then dreaming is vivid enough where I become conscious and realize I am dreaming.

I may have some insomnia, since I do not get really tired until about 1:30am or 2:30am in the morning. However, my amount of sleep can vary from around 5 hours to 7-8, and I have had lucid dreams within all those lengths of sleep.

Its just that there is a distinctive feel (for me) of being in an really vivid dream, and I am even more conscious in these dream states than in others. And these states are usually near the end of sleep, probably in REM. Maybe I could try to keep track of how much I sleep and see if it correlates to lucid dreaming.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that whenever I get the right amount of sleep, or possibly high quality sleep, I usually end up lucid dreaming.

Yup, I totally get what you're saying. When I sleep long enough I have luciddreams or when I sleep early enough also.
Whenever I have slept long enough or early enough to be aware of my awakenings after each sleepcycle, I most likely have LD's

For me it's usually when I'm close to waking up, probably because my sleep is lighter and my mental state is more aware. I often have a lucid dream at 4 or 5 in the morning, because I naturally have to get up around 7. These dreams aren't necessarily quicker to end, but it does seem easier to become lucid in them since I think my brain is already starting the process of waking up!

I completely agree with this. When I am not WILDing and don't get enough sleep, I more than likely will not get lucid. The longer you sleep, the better chance you have getting lucid! Lucid dreams are also shown to appear in the later stages of sleep.

I totally agree. I was taking a look at my dream journal, and I noticed that every time I've had a lucid, its been on a Sunday..when I sleep around 9-10 hours. Normally, I get around 6-7 hours of sleep, and I'm never able to LD
