can't get into dream after sleep paralysis

I have a problem where I get to the point where i'm feeling vibrations throughout my body but i'm on the verge of being awake. It feels like I could easily snap myself out of it and move my body around, so it's not like true sleep paralysis where it takes a LOT of effort just to lift a finger. But I still am feeling very strong vibrations and hearing noises... i just have a very hard time transitioning from that stage into a dream. Usually I try to focus on the sounds or on the images and then I just end up waking up.

what gives? it's very frustrating because I can't seem to fix this problem.

Try picking an anchor to help keep that delicate balance of awareness. An anchor is anything that helps you stay aware enough so that you don't just fall asleep, but not wake you up too much to the point where you can't fall asleep at all. These include counting (from 1-10 and then back to 1, or something similarly easy), focusing on breathing (not everyone feels comfortable with this since it then become voluntary instead of the normal involuntary), focusing on heartbeat (can scare some people since SP makes your heartbeat speed up/slow down), and any other low focus things.

It just sounds like you're staying too aware and not letting yourself fall asleep which is not uncommon since SP can be a bit tricky/freaky to some people, but you can overcome this with either and anchor, practice, or both. Just hang in there and remember you could always try DILD/MILD/DEILD if you feel WILD is not the technique for you, but at least give the anchor thing a try instead of just giving up. Perseverance is key.

You could also try FILD (finger induced lucid dream) which is a variation of WILD in which you use your fingers as an anchor. http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/finger...am-fild-36683/. Note: You don't have to use an alarm if you don't want to and can just pair it with a WBTB/however you normally preform your WILDs. Hope this helps

yeah you're right that's exactly what's happening, i've always had an issue with staying too aware whenever i try to keep some form of awareness. Hopefully i can get better at this with time, but it's very very frustrating to practice becuase after a couple failed tries, i'm just lying awake in bed not feeling sleepy anymore.

i'll look into other methods.. WILD just seems like the most reliable.

Sometimes you have to be patient. Don't be fooled if you feel like you woke up. Just go right back to what you were doing, and you should quickly get right back to where you were. Sometimes I will feel two or three rounds of vibrations before a dream takes hold. It comes in waves.

Whatever you are doing with your mind, try to make it immersive. If you are counting, imagine seeing or touching the numbers. If you are visualizing something, include touch and movement. This will help you transition into the dream.
