      3rd person dreaming problem

      Hi there, I'm new.

So I've been wondering if anyone has ever had problems attaining lucidity through 3rd person dreams. I always dream in this method, probably because of my consistent gaming, and I naturally recall my memories this way also. I think that it would be considerably more harder to realise one is dreaming in 3rd person because, I always find that if I am not in a physical body (whether it be mine or someone else's in the dream) I can't perform any reality checks.

It's not often I actually do 'possess' someones body in my dreams, so I have to depend on my 'omniscient' position to just, somehow realise I am dreaming. Which I find considerably harder as I have mentioned.

So does anyone have any advice at all? Or does anyone shear the same experience as I?

Hi I have had 3rd person before but not often. I can offer my opinion, when you write down your dreams you are writing them down in 3rd person, carry on doing that but, re write it again nd ths time put yourself in the dream as the person...this could trick your brain and after a while you will dream normally, you'll have a dream body and you will interact properly in your dream. Write down some made up dreams and again put yourself in them, again tricking the brain....your brain will start thinking "hey..I need to be in the dream not watching" soon enough you'll find yourself in them. This is just my opinion but to be fair I think it will solve your problem. When you in real life just act out a scenario...look at something and say "wow that's weird I must be dreaming" and touch whatever it is and say to yourself "I'm in my dream and I can touch things and interact...I have a dream body" and examine your body as if it is a dream body. I bet if you do these few things it will work ...happy dreaming my friend!

Visualize first person for an hour a day. That should do it.

First work on getting lucid in your normal 3rd person dreams and then you can transition fairly easily into 1st person.

The trickis in truely understanding RCs. It is not enough to just test if you can breath with a plugged nose and so on. RCs should be a moment when you truely examine and consider if you are dreaming or not. If you only preform the action, without honestly questioninng if you are dreaming, then RCs are not very useful.

Stop thinking about RCs as a physical test, Instead take that time to truely understand what around you makes you believe you are or are not in a dream. It involves considering everything, such as the lighting, the presence of shadows, being able to remember how yyou got there and where you are. It involves noticing if you do have a body, and if the body is normal. Expand your RCs to include this type of questioning and they work equally well in 3rd person.

There are also tricks for transitioning from 3rd person, into 1st, but start with just getting lucid in your normal 3rd person dreams.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

I hate 3rd person dreams. In my dreams like that, it is as if I am watching a film. Except that I have no conscious. No awareness means no chance of becoming lucid.

Thanks for the advice everyone, and SpaceCowboyDave, haha I know what you mean.

So I guess I really just need to start thinking in 1st person, which I find difficult. But I will start practicing the methods you have offered. And sivason everything you have explained was really insightful, thank you, I ought to start really questioning things around me in much more detail than just the casual reality check.
