I've tried DEILD before, but I had an alarm and it didn't really end well. I always got shocked by the alarm and jumped, pretty much ruining my chance. This time I'm going to use the powers of mantras, and was wondering; why is it that you're not suppose to use 'will' or any future tense verbs in a mantra, yet many of the tutorials do use future tense? I don't mean to point out a flaw, it just has me confused, because I want to follow the tutorial, and I feel that if I put it in present tense that it may mess up the steps.
Secondly, I really can't map out my sleeping patterns. 1). I don't really understand how to, and 2). I have a pretty fluctuating bed time, I don't usually have a time in which I sleep, I just kind of sleep when I feel sleepy, so it's hard to map out REM and all of this. So I was reading the DEILD tutorial on the site (DEILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views) and it says that I can set up the mantra to wake me up after every dream, will that be good enough? I don't think I can map out the end of every REM state, it would be a lot easier for me just to wake up after every dream. Also, is the chance of sleep paralysis in DEILD high? I'm not really scared or anything, I just want to know ahead of time. Also, any other tips on the technique would be great! I can't wait to try it, I've been doing WILD and haven't had much of a success rate.
