The more aware I become, the weirder reality becomes

      Has anyone else observed this?

The more aware I become, the weirder reality becomes. Who ever said that waking like is normal and that weirdness means that we are dreaming? If you believe that, then you must live in a reality that is different from the one I inhabit.

Yesterday I saw an office document that had a paragraph in Latin in it out of some unexplained reason. My boss assured me that he had run it through google translator, which identified the language as Latin, but translated it to gibberish. And I was not dreaming.

Today I got into my car after work, and its hazard lights turned on and so did the horn as if it had a car alarm, but our car has no car alarm! I had to double heck several times that I got in fact into my own car, and that I was not dreaming.

Other weird stuff too, but not interesting enough, still keeps me on my toes. That's weird. Am I dreaming? How can I not be dreaming? Reality is not supposed to be weird like that, you know?
You may say I'm a dreamer.

I agree life is filled with ridiculously weird and stupid things, like a jelly bear stuck to the ceiling or the giant cheese hill run.

Not surprised about the possibility of that, but yeah, waking life can be weird at times, as well as some people can experience more or less 'normal' dreams, go figure
Dreams are always weirder than waking life for me personally though, like, much weirder.

Although I don't really recognize JoannaB's experience, I do feel that reality becomes more "surreal" when I practice techniques like Lucid Living.
I especially tend to feel this way when I take walks in the early morning, while there is still thick morning mist in the air and everything is peaceful.

This is usually what it looks like in my neighbourhood at around 4-5 AM in the morning during Summer; it's pretty amazing actually, the scents and colours are really beautiful and enchanting at that time of the day.
Really sets me in the mood for lucid dreaming. ^^

See this morning I was so aware: I got a good score on my Brain Trainer game before even getting up, then I proceeded to locate one of everything that I was to pay attention to today for my MILD awareness exercises, and then I noticed that the faucet of the bathtub was dripping, and next thing I know my forehead hits the further edge of the bathtub, my belly hits the closer to be edge, my knee hits the floor, and my other leg hurts like I got a leg cramp. Very aware, right. I got to work on that some more, and I would like the rest of my day to be less weird please. One of my awareness exercises for today is to notice every time I see my face in the mirror. I can add to that that if I do not notice a large bruise on my forehead, I might be dreaming. Sigh.

Wow, every generation knows less than the last...

This is called "lorem ipsum", and it's gibberish written in latin to highlight the features of a font:

What do you mean by each generation knows less than the last? I am 39, and my boss is in his 60s, and neither of us knew about this, so if you are younger than us, you could just as well say that each generation knows more than the last. Then again, I bet that my boss and I know a few things you do not, just as you obviously know a few things we don't. Thanks for the Lorem Ipsum explanation.

Waking Life is just as ridiculous and weird as the dream world. Its just not as obvious as the dream world.

The big difference is that the dream world has an excuse for being weird, but physical reality doesn't.

How weird is this: people complaining on and on about inept or corrupt politicians, and then going out to vote for them at the first opportunity ... or how about: buying the next upgrade of the software, because the current version doesn't work properly ... or: munching on ice cream, donuts, and candy, to relieve the pain of being too fat!?

On the other hand, physical reality would be a lot more boring without the weirdness.

I can relate to every word of that. I used to hate winter but now, because of lucid dreaming, I love it. I like to cycle up into the hills and look at the bleak, grey landscape and I find great beauty in it - something I don't think I'd have found without lucid dreaming.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

Sorry, you triggered the "hatred for younger people" part of my brain. I need to work on that.

I find that looking for answers that are beyond scientific explanation can lead to amazing realisations.
Every night I get on my PC and search the internet for interesting topics that will satisfy my thirst for knowledge.
I have been at this task for three years now, but seem to know less than when I started.
There does seem to be a lot of truth behind subjects that I previously thought of as fictional.
Also, there have been many more strange happenings since my quest started.

Lots of crap on the internet as well. Every topic seems to attract the intellectual, and the muppet alike.
The skill is in sifting out the crap, but this again can be quite a task.

If I put down some of the coincidences that have happened, you would think me mad.
