Question Getting Back Into Lucid Dreaming...The Struggle

Hi DV. I've been very active over the past week or so since I had my last intentional Lucid Dream. I started trying to get back to it two weeks ago and began to RC regularly as I used to. I pulled off a lucky lucid almost two weeks ago from today and I haven't had one or even a close one since. I'm getting kind of frustrated now. I've been journaling, I've had better recall, I've been doing ADA and I've been so on fire to have a LD but I've gotten no results. Luckily the ADA has improved my recall substantially, but otherwise there's nothing. I've never had such a struggle before while so psyched to get lucid, and it's really annoying me. So the question is, what should I be doing?

I don't think the question "what should I be doing?" is helpful? Idk I can't describe it, but it almost sounds as if you wanted to become lucid instantly. Well there are dry spell killers that you can look up on here. Honestly just keep doing what you're doing because it sounds like you've grown accustomed to you technique. Everyone will be different for example, me. All I have to do is write in my journal and do RCs but I always forget -_- lol. Another thing that actually helped me out when I was beginning was to not be so excited. Sounds crazy right? Well it's one of those things to where you just have to trust yourself to let it happen.

Have you been doing WBTB's? They're magical for dry spells! Also, if you've been trying veeery hard everyday lately, you might wanna take a day off. No lucid practices or obsessions for an entire day, just sleep and get some rest. You might be surprised how well it affects your following attempts good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

My only problem with WBTB is losing sleep.

Agree. I call WBTB "WCGBTS" = wake up, can't get back to sleep.

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

^ I though I was the only one.

What you can do to better afford WBTB is keep them nice and short. Still works well if you want to engage a direct technique and even if not... I still believe in the great value of just getting up, going to the toilet and coming back in a couple of minutes. It's still a spike of awakefulness in your night's sleep.

Some awareness exercises in your WBTB aiming to build focus while simultaneously relaxing you back into sleep are also a good consideration to take. I was just gonna say meditation but that might not be your thing, there are other alternatives.

You will suceed, just relax, have fun and learn to enjoy as much of the way there as possible! From a certain point foward almost every dream is a potential source of satisfaction if we care to pay attention enough to what was going on while we were simply in our beds doing nothing... Nothing!
