All day Awareness? Questions, need help :)

Hey, so for the past maybe... four days or five days I've been practicing http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...kingyoshi.html and I guess I'am contemplating whether of not I'am doing this correctly.

During the day, since I am just starting off. I choose sessions. until I become better. They usually start off by me questioning "Am I dreaming.." And I repeat this for maybe 2 more times, and by this time my
senses are heightened and I'am alert, as much as I can be. Listening. Ex: Listening to the cars wheels against the ground, birds, the wind brushing upon my skin. People and whatnot. For sight, I try to pay attention to what's going on around me. I catch butterflies moving in and out of the corner of my eyes. I feel my feet on the ground. I pay attention to the way my clothes feel, and what they look like. During this I also perform RC's (Nose plug, finger count, sometimes gravity. At the end of the sessions I questions how I got to the point I'am at. "How did I get here?" "Why am I here?" and I come up with a good explanation. After that, it's over and I go back to what I do.

      sessions time: 5 minutes long
session intervals : every hour or so.

I just feel like I'am doing this wrong.. I tried asking for help on the thread, but no one yet. If anyone can shoot me a message, or give me a hand that'd be great. Happy Dreaming!

I think you're doing it right. Good work and keep at it.

If you find this interesting and fun to do I guess this would be effectve for you.

But I would just like to make it clear what awareness is and what it's not.

If you walk outside and see a tree or a bird but at the same time you are thinking "I wonder if will be late for school", "Hmm did I locked the door?" or even "Oh look at that tree there is a bird, I wonder what kind of bird it is. It might be a blackbird. Yeah it's definitely a blackbird I remember that from that documentary the other day."

This is not to be present or aware!

Because you are by then in your head, analyzing and judging and therefore not in the now.

To describe the feeling of how it feels to be present is probably as difficult as describing how it feels to be lucid to someone who hasn't experienced it.

So something that you can do to get a an idea of it, is to just focus on your breath instead of the thoughts and at the same time experience the things around you.

But if you truly want to feel how it is like to be present I suggest you try meditation.

Because the whole point of meditation is to let go of thoughts and just be in the moment, it truly feels amazing, like being a child without a worry again.

To analyze your experiences and see if you are dreaming or not can be an effective method, but in my experience just being present of the moment itself is enough.

Because the present and the now is our default state.

Here is a good meditation video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a5fO8jE7mc

I don't want to confuse you, just do whatever you find works best. But what I am trying to say is that the less you think of the moment and the more you ARE in the moment the more aware you are.

      Sweet dreams!

Seems you are doing it quite right, although I definitely agree with MasterMind

Be sure to be aware and self aware enough so that if this were a dream you think you'd catch on, to gain additional insights about your present reality by observing and analyzing it, while paying attention to the here and now. I think that's what ADA is about. However, I would think that just like everything LD practice related, there are probably individual variations: do what seems to work for you, and trust your gut feeling - if it does not feel right to you, adjust, until it does.

As JoannaB said, it's important to try and experiment to make the technique right for you. I think you've done the right thing with taking it in sessions to begin with so you can practice it. Remember to start adjusting these so that they are longer as you progress. Good luck, and keep us updated!

Well, I haven't been practicing for about 4 days because I've been really busy, but I will be getting on track very soon. Also with meditation sessions as well. Should I have both sessions of ADA And Meditation? or are they both pretty much the same thing "trying to be in the present moment?"
Here is a good meditation video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a5fO8jE7mc
I watched the video and he helped and explained a lot, thanks Mastermind
