Sounds to me like you have to boost your recall first if you've only remembered one dream in the last few days. Get yourself up to 2 or 3 dreams a night, and then you'll be golden.
Also, in the case of FILD. Everyone has a technique that works for them, usually derived from a lot of experimentation. You will have to play around with the "settings" of the technique until it works for you. FILD may not be the technique you want to use. I'd especially advise not to use a technique just because it seems the easiest, lucid dreaming often takes dedication and hard work. You will get out of it what you put in. Good luck!
