      Doubts

I am quite scared to try this, as I have read mixed stories of people doing this.
Some say they undergo some of the best experiences, solving personal issues etc., and others say they are traumatized because feel like they are being choked etc. etc.
But still, I really want to try this, since I tend to always remember my dreams and dream almost every night, and I have a basal level of control over my dreams already I think,
although the case can also be that I am just already half awake, since this always occurs near the end of my sleep period.
Does the experience differ from person to person?
And what are your experiences? Do you have bad ones? How was your first LD?

It's not anything to be scared of. You can't be "traumatized" by your own lucid dreams because YOU are in full control (somewhat). Unless your own daydreams scare the s*** out of you, you should be fine. You're more likely to have a scary experience dreaming normally (nightmare), which by the way is completely created by your own emotional reactions. Lucid dreaming is a lot more fun than scary, and every dream you've had was a lucid dream it's just you weren't aware that you were the architect. It's a very personal, individual experience which is completely up to you.

The only thing that will truly scare you is sleep paralysis if you manage to induce it consciously.

I agree with Blizzarddesigns. Negative emotions can cause nightmares.Lucid or non lucid nightmares. You can be lucid and have no control of the dream too. I remember I fell asleep laying on my back and ended up having a dream of a giant chicken trying to eat me. I could barely move fast, I was even being chased by Indian guys with spears. There are certain dreams, honestly, you can't control. I even tryed calling my dream guide but he didn't come. But even if I was slow I managed to beat the chicken and ended up waking up after the sleep paralysis happened. XD I had that dream years ago but I'm still lucid dreaming. I just don't sleep on my back anymore. <w< I think lucid dreaming is better because you can overcome your fears and have your own adventure. Regular dreams can still turn out bad so why not? You've got nothing to lose. Anyways all the times my guide saved me and the cool adventures I've had make up for all those nightmares where I was alone. :3 Also, I had a choking dream before when I was lucid. But it was cause I was too anxious that day cause of negative thoughts. But I use the dream as even more reason to stay calm. :3 Plus people can have a choking dream or nightmares for different reasons. So if your health is fine you should be fine.
Oh and if you sleep on your back your more likely to have a sleep paralysis dream where you can't move.

It is nothing to even think about. It is very rare and if it has never been a problem for you, then assume it never will be. Happy dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Even if you have a nightmare. Keep one thing in mind:

      IT IS A DREAM.

If you are lucid, whatever the situation is (dream or nightmare) you know you are asleep and safely tucked in your bed. Just observe and keep calm in terms on nightmares (and/or try to confront it, ask questions, etc) or if its a regular dream, well, enjoy!

You don't have to experience sleep paralysis. I never have. If it does hit you, just keep in mind that it's not real, anything you see or feel is bullshi*. Kind of the same process one prepares in case of a bad trip on hallucinogens. When it's all going to hell, gotta keep in mind "this is just a drug doing this, this isn't real".

Even the bad LDs can be interesting and worthwhile, in my experience.
