      Help! Panicking during WILD!

I nearly had a successful wild but panicked during my WILD attempt. Everything flickered on and then off before turning on and off again or something like that. I experienced some sort of red flashes and I woke up because I got scared. I know it's my mind playing tricks on me because of hallucinations, but what can I do to be sure this won't happen again?

      At least I'm having progress.

Sounds like you had your first taste of hypnagogic imagery. These things happen as your body kind of shuts down for sleep. They're perfectly normal and can't hurt you. There's a little more info on the wiki page here.

If your going to use WILD, there's not really much you can do to prevent them, as it's part of the WILD transition. All you can do is just keep a level head and know that they'll be over soon.

Congrats on the progress, though. That's closer to a WILD than I've ever come.

I know this might sound evil but for some reason I thought the title of this thread was funny... 'HELP MEEEE!'
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...

There's not much you can do except get used to it, I think after a while you might actually stop getting those kinds of scary transitions, I used to get them too back when I first started WILDing but now it never happens.

The closest I got was actually when I felt like I was floating. So disappointed it didn't become a lucid.

      Have you tried controlling it?

Hallucinations are caused by your brain in a similar fashion to dreams, so just as you can control dreams so can hallucinations be controlled.
If the flickering is scary, make it so that it looks like fireworks and so on. Don't think of it as scary, or it will take on that theme; instead think of it as fun and then it will have a happier theme. (I have done this, and it works wonders but may ruin the WILD due to laughter)

I don't think I have tried to control it before. Experienced vibration during a nap while listening to beats but the stupid phone vibrated.
