Am I making any progress towards Lucidity at all

      Hello,

I'm a beginner trying to obtain a Lucid Dreams for the past three nights.

My first time I used the DILD but I ended up not sleeping because I guess I was too excited (my heart rate and breathing went fast, so it prevented me from sleeping.)

My second time was somewhat of a success. I ended up having 4 dreams in one night and I could remember them but none were lucid because I wasn't aware I was in a dream. But I recorded all 4 of them in my Dream Journal.

My third time (last night) I didn't dream at all or so I think, if I did I don't remember.

Here are the things I been doing for the past three days to help me:

During the day I randomly stop and ask myself ''Am I dream'' about ten times a day. I then check my hands and count my fingers and say ''Next time I dreaming, I look at my hands, and realize I'm dreaming."

At night I repeat mantras in my head and then I visualize my self doing reality checks inside my dreams.

Any suggestions or tips for help is all welcomed

      Thank you

Doccumenting your dreams in your dream journal... Regularly Reality checking...Autosuggestion... and even a DILD that ended shortly after you became lucid. (So you were technically lucid dreaming there, if only for a moment.)

Sounds like you're on the right track to me. Keep up the good work.

Hello and welcome to Dream Views! I may not be the most experienced LDer ever (not even close actually) but I've been practicing long enough that I think I can help a little. First off, you have to realize that LDing takes time and I mean lots of time, to get good at, so don't be discouraged if you don't have an LD a night after one week of practicing Also, anything you do that involves LDing furthers you along and gets you better, so you are making progress. Also, you have dreams every night, but sometimes you don't remember them, do what JadeGreen suggested and Dream Journal...that will improve you recall big time.

When practicing LDing, do what feels natural to you. If you don't like something, don't do it because if you hate doing something it won't be nearly as effective as something you enjoy doing. For example, I use Self Awareness which is just not letting your mind wander and daydream, you have to stay focused on the present. I won't go into too much detail about Self Awareness because if you want to use it, you have to make it mold to the way you want it, so its like your own little technique. (I do Reality Checks too)

You can sign up for a workbook in either the Intro Class or the DILD course if you want some one on one help with an experienced LDer. Both are in the DV Academy board. I'm in the Intro Class btw, and it has helped me out a ton!

Remember to not get discouraged if you aren't getting LD's for a while, stick with it and you'll be rewarded with many LD's! See you around, and happy LDing!

It took me about 2 weeks before getting my first LD. What I recommend is checking out king yoshis all day awareness tutorial. It's like dild, but increaceys your chances sooooooooooo much. Also try simple induction techniques like mild, ssild, fild, and wbtb. Try all of these out to find which one works. ssild is easy and works for me a lot. I actually got my 2nd LD :tonguewiggleusing ssild after only 2 tries. Also read a lot of articles, so u know what to do and don't do in a LD. Good luck.

      Hey Bradley, welcome.

You're doing everything right so far. Keep logging all of your dreams, and your recall will improve astronomically. Understand that this process takes some time. The good news is, because of the fact that you're so excited, I think you have an improved chance of spontaneously becoming lucid in a dream.

I'd really like to emphasize what LDleader said- There are thousands of techniques that work differently for everyone. When I first started, I struggled so much with getting lucid, especially when WILDing and I was following a lot of techniques to the tee. Ultimately, I ended up developing my own techniques, some of which were quite contradictory to what I had been taught. Do whatever makes you comfortable. I would generally advise sticking to the most well-known methods for now, and then adapt them as you gather more experience. Good luck!

      Cheers
