      Gravity

      GRAVITY
So, for a while now I've noticed that gravity doesn't work at all normally in dreams, and I am hoping to use that to my advantage. The past few days I've incorporated gravity reality checks such as feeling whether I'm affected by gravity or whether I can feel my feet on the floor, and generally tried to be more mindful about the gravity around me throughout the day. I was wondering if anyone
has any tips or stories they'd like to share to help me develop this to hopefully improve my lucid dreaming abilities. Thanks .

Some people have almost 'mastered' this technique already! Hukif is very good at it, and also well known due to this Gravity RC.
      Some great topics about it:

Thanks a lot Forg these are very insightful. I think I'll try to personalize my RC's somewhat towards my feet, hopefully I will get some results within the next few weeks/months .

I think that Hukif uses gravity to tell whether he is in a dream or not and he has a ridiculous number of lucid dreams. You might consider sending him a private message asking him for advice, I bet he'd love to help you, he seems to be very friendly and helpful.

It would actually mean a lot to Hukif if you did pursue Gravity as your technique for becoming lucid.

Hukif and I would like to conduct a study on the technique with other people but we're lacking in the "volunteer" department lol.

Oh and to save yourself a lot of frustration, do not, I repeat, do NOT use dream logic while in the awake state. You'll confuse yourself when you're dreaming and miss chances of becoming lucid.

I myself focused on the feet when I first started and my first gravity induced lucid was so intense! But later on I perfected the RC in a way that suited me much better and I had my lucidity breakthrough.

I would just like to say that back a couple months ago when I was consistently practicing LDing and working on the gravity RC, it can get really discouraging. First off you are constantly wondering if you are doing it right because it's really specific to the individual and there is no one way to do it. Second is that it takes a very very long time for the RC to transfer over into your dream and for you to actually notice the change in Gravity. So I actually think that a study on the technique would be very beneficial because I don't think people would lose nearly the amount of motivation if they felt obliged to complete the study and they knew that other people were going through the same thing as them.

I have just decided to come back today and I'm glad I found this thread because I was originally going to start out again the A Course in Lucid Dreaming, but now I might just jump right in to Gravity RC and DJing along with a few other things. I'm still not really sure though so I'll have to think about it. However though, if you and Hukif were to start a study on this then I would definitely just jump straight back into the Gravity RC.

When you said not to use dream logic, I assume that you just meant not to repeat to yourself that in a dream something would be heavier/lighter? Just get used to what gravity feels like and know that normal gravity=awake and weird gravity=dream?

Thanks for all the replies guys . The past few days my recall has gone up but I haven't quite had a lucid, but realized I was dreaming just as I was waking up twice and almost managed to DEILD. I'm not sure there was anything quite gravity related in the dreams but it is encouraging nonetheless. Do you have any tips for how to actually maintain the awareness on gravity? Throughout the day I seem to be RCing and aware lots of times but it is tricky to hold that for more than a minute or two. Do you think meditating on the feel of the body and gravity, such as Sivason's sensory awareness meditations is a good idea?

Made me chuckle a bit because it's all completely normal and I agree with everything you said. I think I probably spent more time wondering about if I'm doing it right than the actual RC itself XD

Glad to see people taking interest in Gravity RC again, it's the most overlooked technique IMO but it's also a great element to achieve lucidity.

Honestly, there's not a whole you could to do help you keep your mind on the gravity. I know that sounds a bit cruel but me myself I'm old school and I do it without the aid of anything.

Just try to remember to RC as much as possible, it's ok if you forget it's better to remember a little than not to at all. What you're going through is very normal as well, I mean you are learning a new RC so go easy on yourself.

You could use a timer as a reminder to help you remember to RC but in the great words of Hukif, "timers are evil!" Lol

Personally, I myself have not given Sivason's method a try so I can't really speak on that.

My advice would be to go ahead and practice what you feel is best for YOU because chances are you're going modify a technique that suits you specifically just like I did.

And trust me, when you have your first breakthrough you're going to feel like a million bucks!

I've also tried this technique with little success, so if Hukif or Azul ever wanted to compile people's experiences with the Gravity RC I'm more than willing to share mine.

Just a couple of ideas here:
1- I would participate in a "study" but must admit I'm a bit pessimistic. I was very frustrated about what a failure the test of "The way of the lucid dreamer open beta" was. Most people did not keep his word about testing the method even thought it was only a few days long. Yes, the thing (especially the intro) was controversial, and it was somehow similar to dream yoga so definitely was not the the DJ, DS, RC, MILD that we are used to, but that was actually the point, testing a completely new approach. Anyways.
2- Given that motivation is a big problem with Gravity RC I would suggest not trying it until one recalls *at least* three or more dreams per night, so that you can actually see how it progressively bleeds into one's dreams, and keep motivation up (This was probably what made me fail, dream recall is my Achilles' heel)
3- Another big problem is keeping the RC up as much as possible. It is difficult to deal with this apart from "just keep trying". Maybe one could start with 5 minutes practice sessions and keep doing it progressively longer sessions as one masters it. Similar to meditation or something. And/or do practice sessions with progressively more distracting activities (sitting in a quiet room, during a brief walk, while doing some house chores, during a conversation, etc etc)

IDK, these are some things I came up with after my failed attempt, just in case they help someone.
