      What is your mantra?

There is an older post like this one from 2009, but I am curious to see what the current members say!

As the title suggests, what mantras do you use throughout the day or before bed for lucid dreaming? How successful have they been?

      My personal mantra:

      I will lucid dream.
      I will have control.
      Is this a dream?
      I am dreaming.
      I will have control.

I repeat this at various times of the day while imagining my previous nights dreams, and what would have happened had I become lucid. If I find a voice in my head that is doubting my ability, I push it out of my mind and restart.

I'm thinking of trying out, "I am dreaming," and see how that goes. Since I got a mala (prayer beads) from my mentor recently, I might as well put them to use in some sort of fashion. I'd imagine it'd take a week or two before it takes effect? Maybe sooner, since it'll be recited for one cycle, at least 100 times per meditation.

My mantras generally reflect my current goals (i.e., the one I've been using a lot lately is "remember"), so I've had hundreds over the years. I do have a base mantra that I have been falling back on for decades whenever goals are too vague or my chosen mantra is failing, and that mantra is "Here & Now." It works really well.

Yea I definitely do warp mine to whatever I am trying to accomplish, but I really like the idea of "Here & Now", I think I may borrow that. I have been wanting to simplify mine, I think its a bit too cumbersome.

I also have a few, based on my current goals. I say them all few times when WILDing as to keep reminding myself what I want to do.

Today I had these for a WILD:

      - I''m dreaming
      - No sex
      - make it rain (TOTM task)

      Other times for a WILD:
      - I'm dreaming
      - Open your eyes and see
      - When I see (my room), I get up
      - Stand up, roll out
      - Walk, don't fly

      For a DILD:
      - Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming

Sometimes when I try to WILD, I use a mantra in my own language that means "to stay concentrated".
When I repeat this while waiting for a WILD window, it's like my subconscious get the meaning of that and help me crossing the different n-rem stages without loosing too much consciousness for a much longer period than if I don't use mantra.

It is like a rope that automatically brings me back to awareness each time I go too far away in my random thoughts and unconsciousness.
I think it helps me to stay aware longer in the stage 2, maybe to the stage 3, but it also seams to prevent me from crossing the REM stage if I keep on repeating it when I get closer to this window.
That's why I ordered (will have it in few weeks) an automatic, auto-snooze, fully programmable vibrating alarm (Gymboss minimax) that will be supposed to replace any "talking to myself" technique for WILD attempt, cause I have read that this mental talking is not very good for WILD.

By the way Sageous, I'd like to have an advice from you as you are a WILD expert.
My idea is to test several approaches with this programmable tool.
I see 3 ways of programming the intervals for WILD purpose, and other ways for DEILD purpose.

I started a thread HERE where I develop my ideas.
If you have any idea about which way of setting the delays sounds the more accurate to you for WILD, don't hesitate to post on the linked thread.
      Thanks in advance.

Edit: Indeed I just received the device.
So the experimentation will start much sooner that I was expecting !

My latest mantra that will help me get lucid. Because most of my latest dreams are of me being at work, working 0_o

"Next time I'm working, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming"

It used to be "Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming"

I'm finding mantras completely ineffective. I just say the words, but after a while they lose their meaning.

And another problem, language. I live in Belgium and speak Dutch, but I think in English 60% of the time. I can't take my own language seriously, yet at the same time
English isn't my native tongue. So... what language do I use to "communicate" with my subconscious in a mantra?
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
-Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
-Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

^^ Language doesn't matter, Timothy. Pick whatever language works best for you, and from which your mantra will draw the most meaning. If chosen well, mantras have nothing to do with language or words at all, but with intention and desire. Find a phrase that best reflects your lucid goals or needs, and what language you use will not matter.

In other words, your unconscious doesn't speak Dutch or English; it speaks you. Communicate sincerely with your unconscious (aka, yourself), and it will understand just fine.

My mantras work like magic. Once I'm in a dream, I hear myself still repeating them and it reminds me what I wanted to do. And if I remember them later in a dream, they give me a clue as well. It's more about the intent than the words, same as with RCs. All about setting the intent and KNOWING what will happen.

I say my mantras in my non-native language, simply because I speak it longer than the native. And it has lot more meaning for me. But it really doesn't matter. Like I don't use correct grammar in the mantra, because that's how it rolls off my tongue easier and it feels more natural to me. I don't think my mind minds, haha.

I'm going to use this one I made up just now for today.

My lucidity is high and sustained, now and always.

I try using something like "Look at yout hand, you're dreaming" but they don't have too much power, because in the next day I don't remember if I stopped thinking about it right before I fell asleep.
Also, do I have to SAY/WHISPER the words? Or can I just think about them?

Does this work just after a WBTB or does it even work when you just went to bed? do you use your microawakenings to set up your intention/mantra again or do you sleep the night "through" and set your intention just after going to bed?
