I was unsure what to actual do next so i grabbed my nose and done a reality check - big mistake as the reality check failed, i must have used my physical body to do the nose plug and this woke me for real

On reflection i realized that doing a reality check was not logical, it didnt make sense because i already knew i was dreaming at that point (unless i really DO have magical sounding dribble lol)

I want to know what best to do in case i find myself in this situation again

Should i attempt to 'roll out' and separate from my sleeping body at this point? Whats the best line to take to get lucid dreaming from this type of false awakening?
In that liminal state, there's a real risk of accidentally moving your physical body by mistake when you intend to move your dream body, as you discovered! So the safest kind of movement or RC is one that your physical body cannot replicate. Try to float directly up or down, or try to rotate horizontally around a central axis point. Your physical body is not capable of these movements, so your intentions are more likely to result in dreamed rather than real motion--and at the same time these actions will serve as a handy RC, since if you can successfully float or sink or rotate in this way, you're definitely dreaming! There's no need to nose-plug. I usually start with tentative, unnatural movements like this until I feel well-enough integrated into my dream body that I'm confident I can safely get out of bed.
