It doesn't matter which senses you focus on or how long you focus on each individual one. As long as you're focusing on a sense until you're dreaming, you're good! This is because the focus required to do the technique is what makes it work.
My personal variation of SSILD is to simply watch the back of my eyelids 100% of the time continuously until I'm dreaming. Doing this can sometimes make your eyes sore or give you a headache which is where I think the whole rotating senses thing originated. I've trying only hearing, too, but not as much as only seeing. I forget how well it worked for me. I haven't tried only feeling, yet. I should try these things to see how well they compare to only seeing, which works well for me.
