Question Forcing yourself to lucid dream?

I've talked to a friend who said he could lucid dream just by forcing himself. He said he does this by talking to his subconscious during the day and before sleep by saying "YOU WILL LUCID DREAM TONIGHT!" and other things in an aggressive manner. I also saw two Reddit posts today saying the same thing, (only they did it before sleep and not throughout the day like my friend did) and it worked for them. Has anybody else tried this? Because I've feel that I've tried something similar, but I haven't been as confident/persuasive to myself about it, or just aggressive lol.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but one is very unlikely to induce lucid dreams at will by strong intention alone. Lucid dreaming is a lot more complex than that. I mean, just count how many tutorials there are in this forum on dream initiation alone. If it were so easy for everyone to initiate an LD by just begging for it, we really wouldn't be making so much of a fuss, now would we?

Again, I'm not trying to be a buzzkill or anything. Anyone is capable of LDing. Just be aware that, if your like most people, there's no shortcuts. I'd just rather spare you the "quick fixes" that won't likely do anything for you but disappoint. But don't fret. It ain't a contest, or anything. Lucid dreaming is a journey. Each dreamer has their own pace, their own roads, in which they walk.

Of course, thanks for the explanation!
