Than you for being so open-minded about the stone thing. I know it must sound really strange to someone who's never had any experience with it before (like, 90% of the world, I think). It's not a religous thing at all. A lot of cultures believe that the earth has its own sort of power. Certain stones give off certain viberations and they've learned how to recognize and utilize them. I've been working with stones since I was little and it's very similar to herbology, although I wouldn't put a rock in my tea or anything. =P
I also agree with Curios, on both the herbology and meditation. A lot of people may be skeptics, but all of these things can really work wonders.
