      O.Y.E.-WILD method

I came up with this ideayesterday while falling asleep and thinking of how to try to WILD.

So the Idea is to do a WILD, focussing on something and whenever your attention strays from your object/subject of focus, open your eyes briefly. Like maybe 6 seconds or so and close them again. This instantly brings my straying attention back to 1 point so I can close my eyes again and focus on my oject/subject of focus again seemingly without hindering the process of falling asleep at all. Anyway works really great for me.

      O.Y.E. Open Your Eyes.
I was laying on my back and entering SP. I focused on the feeling of my Cat sleeping on my chest. Then I noticed my thoughts started to wander and my body felt strange sensations. Wandering thoughts lead to falling asleep unconsciously so I decided to open my eyes for a couple of seconds to give my mind some wakefullness. This worked incredibly well cause my attention was immediately focussed again. Closed my eyes again and focussed on the feeling of my Cat sleeping on my chest again. Thoughts wandered again: opened my eyes again for abt. 6 seconds. By this time I was in an onsetting hypnagogic state and I could hardily feel my body, so when I closed my eyes again I decided that I'd have to take my focus away from physical sensations I was not going to feel much longer (My Cat) and focus it on something inside my mind Instead.
Here's what I did when I reached the vivid Hypnagogic state.

Additional technique: Using Imagination to (try to) pull myself into a Dream:
Then I closed them again and focussed on my by now very vivid Hypnagogic imagery. I would imagine seeing leafs and branches in the distance and reaching way over there to grasp them in an attempt to "pull myself into a Dream". I also tried imagining a swiming octopus and grabbing one of it's tentacles and allowing it to drag me deep into the ocean. I allowed it to carry me into a deep, dark ocean. The I remembered a dream of Killerwhales and I imagined a group of killerwhales instead. I grabbed one by it's backfin and it sped into the ocean with it's friends next and around us. I felt the speed. I felt displacement and saw a bright blue ocean and felt the feeling of falling when the whale dived into the deep vertically. I became quite immersed in that imaginairy dream.

So I didn't stay conscious all the way but DEFENITELY much longer than I usually do. So I'm going to stick with this technique.
Wanted to share this and I hope it can be of any help to other's out here who seek an alternative approach to WILD.
If you try this let me know the results.

Great idea about opening your eyes. I often use reverse blinking, so I think I have an idea of what you are talking about. I can see this working especially well when you are super tired and losing consciousness. I'm going to try this tonight. I haven't even attempted a WILD in over a month

Light and Darkness are the switches that toggle your state of consciousness between the Sleeping and the Waking state of consciousness.

A bit of light would reawaken you somewhat I figured.

Nice idea there, I also use reverse blinking and it works wonders so I can see this helping me keep my focus. I'll give it a try tonight and post results.
