      I can't tell if I was Lucid

Here's what's in my journal for this dream (Fire Island is a place I go on vacation most summers):

      Fire Island Magic Board

I was on a Fire Island like place. There was this square shaped board that was magical. I was standing by it. I said "I was just in bed, this is a dream." I got on the board, which flew and responded to voice commands. I flew it around for a while. I went over a marshy area. I didn't want to go over the water, and told it to go back over the trail. I was scared to go too high, because it was small, and there was no safety. I'm not sure if I was really lucid.
I did no reality checks, or anything that I want to do in my dreams. Something about the memory makes me think I chose where I wanted the board to go, but I felt some fear when I was too high, or over the water. I should have known that it wasn't real.

So what do you think? Was I lucid, or was in just the subject of lucid dreaming? I have a feeling that I wasn't.

You knew that it was a dream so you were lucid. You'll find that when you're lucid you may still respond to things as if they are real; you won't think exactly as you would when you're awake.

You were as some people call it "Partially Lucid" meaning that even know you knew it was a dream you were still aware of real life danger.

I'd have to agree that you probably did partially realise you were dreaming but you did not fully understand the implications of that. Its happened to me several times, I've done a reality check in the dream and/or told myself I'm dreaming, and yet I still don't fully realise this fact.

When I have fully realised I'm dreaming there could not be any doubt at all. My whole (dream?) body sort of buzzes or vibrates at the moment I fully understand and realise that I'm dreaming. Then I just think 'wow' as I'm fully conscious. If there is still any doubt at all then it is not complete realisation. Of course this state may only last for a few seconds, and personally it usually does.

But anyway good work and keep it up!!

Thanks, everyone! I don't even know why I first thought that I was dreaming. The "magic board" definitely isn't the strangest thing I've seen in a dream.

I get that feeling sometimes, too. I feel like I'm "partially lucid" but not fully.
