Are you currently in a dry spell?

      Thread Started: 11/19/2008
      Thread Closed: 12/09/2008

It seems like everyone I've spoken to recently is in a dryspell. I don't know why. I don't know if it's the time change, winter, what?! So I'm curious... is it just coincidence in who I talk to, or are most of our members experiencing a dryspell?

So please, if you are experiencing a relative dryspell, vote yes.
If you got over one and are now experiencing your average frequency of lucid dreams again, not just having had one, vote "Just Got Over One." Also, if you don't mind, please post how long you have been in a dryspell for! And any factors you think may be causing it.

      And here's to ending dryspells!!!

Hmm....about.....2 - 3 months. Something like that. Not to mention that my recall is suffering as well.

Nope, better than ever. I had 6 LD's last weekend!

But unfortunately, I have never had a LD on a week night.

Im not too sure what consittues as a dry spell, but I would consider myself in one. I haven't had a LD in over a month, which is not out of the norm, but I usally get one every three weeks or so.

Work, School, Getting ready for college, Girlfriend problems, Homework, going to bed late and getting up early, not writing in my dream journal and not doing Reality checks are all reasonable factors to why I'm not having an LD's

I personally have been in a dryspell as I went from 3-4 per week (decent lucids) to having one about every two weeks, practically no dream recall whatsoever, and the times I do manage to get lucid, they are shitty, low quality, and I wake up almost immediately This has been going on for about five weeks I just had a pretty good lucid the other night though so hopefully it's ending...

My last lucid before the one I just had this past Sat. morning was on 9/1/08.

My recall is still pretty shaky. I'm not sure why I'm having problems.. I'm just glad to finally have another lucid (after while you begin to wonder if you ever will again).

I'm in a dry spell, but it's not completely dry. I've had 3 lucid dreams in the last month, which is way below my average I've been depressed so I think that has something to do with it.

Just got over one which must've lasted a year or so, but that was because I wasn't keeping a dream journal and lost interest.

Same. It's not a complete drought. More like I'm thirsty, and my tap is baaaaarely dripping, so on top of Chinese water torture I'm barely getting drops of liquid

I'm thinking that depression is also part of my problem, for whatever actual reason It seems like everyone I speak to is also having trouble with depression, too, during the past weeks and months (even non-LDers)... I wonder if dryspells and depression are linked. I know there is a link between depression and low serotonin, tryptophan, and melatonin levels. And people take melatonin as a lucid aid. I don't know a whole lot about lucid aids, though. I don't really know a lot about depression either. So that's just my hypothesizing and pretending that eating turkey and going out into the sun will make me feel better and dream better

I've been in a dry spell since I stopped trying to LD. However, I actually got a WILD about a week ago on accident.

when i first learnt about lucid dreaming about a month and a half ago, i had most of my lucid dreams, then i wasnt able to do again it until 3 days ago, but i cant do it anymore, so i suppose i am in a dry spell
im not sure what the cause is, allthough when i had my lucid dreams, i was in a little spell of being focused and alert. but i have no idea how to tell when i will be focused and alert, it might be after i was playing a war game on my psp, or it might be something else. ill try and play my game a lot tomorrow morning when i get up then go back to sleep and see how that works. the reason also might just be nature e.g. time of year

Yea. About a week now. Probably just my workload. I tend to have them on weekends. Also, sometimes I simply decide to skip out. I don't know why.

I am in a dryspell. I've been in and out of town, which always messes with my dream recall. I also have had a lot of projects constantly on my mind that leave me with little time to focus on awareness during the day.

I have gotten my recall back up and my sleep schedule back in line, so the lucididity should be on its way.

I've been in a dryspell for a little over a month. I get about 3-4 lucid dreams a week, but have had none, the last four weeks. For me, it's stress. Whenever I am very stressed, I cannot have a decent lucid dream, and if I do have one, it's super short and not even worth calling it lucid.

I actually haven't logged on to DV in almost two months, but this dryspell is killing me, and so I figured if I came on here and read a bunch of threads, I might just become lucid tonight. It's worked for me in the past.

I'm in a dry spell because of school and related stress.

I've been having an absolute dry spell for a little over a week. After a couple late nights and exhausting days... Poof. My recall completely went into the toilet. I decided I needed to focus on that before I would even worry about everything else, and I tried the last many nights to at least improve recall, with no avail. Finally, last night I was fortunate enough to remember a few dreams.

I'm optimistic that I've gotten back on sync, and hopefully in a few days, I'll be back to where I was previously. I guess this would be considered more of a "speedbump" then anything, but I'm sure you can understand my frustration of not being able to remember any dreams at all.

On the subject of depression, seeing as the year is turning colder and darker, it's not uncommon for many to feel depressed. It's noted that depression can effect sleep, so it would not be to far fetched to assume it effects dreaming as well. That being said, I am not an expert on the subject, and it's purely my speculation.

I took some out because they don't apply to me, but without the deleted items, the above quote is my post.

But I'm trying to get back into it. Today was Day 1 of starting up RCs again. Hopefully I will soon start LD'ing again.

This may sound a bit dumb, but I've noticed that lucidity seems to come to me in times when I am in some kind of major life-transition. Feels like that's happening now-a-days, but no lucid dreaming. Rather, as Ive stated before on different threads, my dreams have become increasingly strange. They're very intensely real, but I don't seem to realize that it's just a dream. Maybe I'm not really trying either...

My lucid dreaming has been failing pretty hard also.
