So. Have you tried it? |
I haven't been working in LDing for a LONG time, and with school, I don't have time to WBTB or reality check all day. I am assuming that there are many others who agree. So, here is my idea of a new thing to try. |

I think this is a really interesting idea. One thing that I'm worried about is that as I continue to attempt to LD, I'll convince myself that it's impossible for me to do it. But, if I'm trying a different "technique", then I won't feel that I've failed and failed at a certain one. If I'm making sense. |
yup, it makes sense. Oh, and Id411, did you try this last night? I wasn't able to because I had to finish a late night chem project, but I am going to tonight. Also, along with your results, post what you did. The last time I tried this, I stood on one foot, and hummed the national anthem. Then I poured water on my eyebrow and did 3 push ups. Obviously what I did was something stupid and pointless, but maybe that unusual stupidity and pointlessness is what it takes to help remember to become lucid. |

Yea I did give it a try but didn't work out because I was just too tired. |

It worked!!! hah! Anyways, I did the things I listed earlier, plus a couple of extra things to stupid and emberrassing to describe. Also, while doing them, I constantly thought of my dream sign (which happens to be not being able to yell, then not being able to speak at all, always in that order). |

I'm happy that you are discovering techniques |
WOW! Congratulations! I really think I'm going to try this. I think if nothing else, doing something unexpected right before bed would also just help me to focus on having a LD. I am going to try it tonight and see what happens. If it works ... well, I will be so excited I won't know what to do! |
I dunno. Obviously, doing the same stuff will make it not so crazy any more, so I think I will take brakes from this technique and vary what I do. Don't remember to focus on your LDing component while you're doing it. For me, I focused on my dream sign, since it occurs in almost every dream. I guess you could also focus on noticing any unusual stuff that would mean you were dreaming, but it probably wouldn't work too well since it is so vague. |

Good idea. I have some pretty specific dream signs that show up fairly regularly, so that will probably work for me. I will check back in with results tomorrow. |
Well, I tried it and had some success. I did a bunch of weird things -- standing on one foot for a count of ten, turning around, doing 5 jumping jacks... Anyway, so then I went to sleep and had a dream where I was looking for someone. I really wanted to find this person and was getting upset about it. Then, I stopped and thought, "Hey, it's a dream. I should just make this person appear!" I woke up then. So, while I didn't get that 'lucid' feeling, I really did know that I was dreaming. |
wow..Tha's great. I really didn't see this technique working for anyone else, but now that it has, I'm sort of excited. Thanks for try Harper |

mmm, what does mean that you have to think about LD? it's too ambiguous |
It means you have to keep your mind on the intention of lucid dreaming, while at the same time trying not to lose focus on what you are doing. If you let your mind drift off, doing the unusual things will not mean as much to you. As I have said in earlier posts, you could also try keeping your mind on your dreamsign, which is what worked for me. |

This sounds like a really great idea, most of the more formal techniques don't really work for me so I will give it a try tonight. |
