A long title, read for it

Tell me some times in which you were starting to become lucid, but you weren't very sure, you were on the fence. What did your mind do to make you think otherwise, to patch up your doubt? See my example if you find this confusing it may help.

In mine this morning (I did have some LDs but this is an FA), I saw a dog on my bed. It was a little black dog, I don't have a little black dog. I'm lookin at it like HUH? What is up with this dog?

Then, my mind makes me think that it's a hallucination, even though it was VERY vivid. Then, my mom comes in and tells me that we're babysitting it, so it wasn't anymore

My mind can work WONDERS to make sure that I won't become lucid when I'm on the fence.

This thread is different from this popular thread: "stupid ways you've missed becoming luicd", in that this is focusing on the ways your mind covers up from being lucid when you're on the fence.

If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

I had one of my 'This had better be a dream or I'm screwed' moments in an anxiety dream where I raced to get to school. To test reality, I sort of subconciously tried to fly. When I actually did start to levitate, I simply reasoned that the wind was strong enough to do it and I shouldn't give it much thought.

I dreamed that my english teacher was in my room, playing a game with me. I suddenly wondered how she got there, but once I thought that she interupted my thoughts with "I'm glad I stopped by to drop off your homework."

      She sabotaged me!

Oh yeah, that exact scenario happened to me a few months ago. I had one where I was critically late for work, and stuck in heavy traffic, extremely far away. I lit up a cigarette frantically and said, "Oh, my god, I wish this were a dream! I'm gonna be in so much trouble!" As I said that, I banged my steering wheel with my fists, and it broke off, and my entire car fell apart instantly. I fell out of it and yelled in complete stress, then held my hands up to it and yelled something which I don't remember. Drivers kept honking, so I turned toward the car nearest to me and flipped it off of the bridge with my mind. Funny part is, I still didn't catch that this was a dream.

I thought to myself, "well, Professor X (from X-Men) said that in heightened periods of emotional stress, the mutant gene can become active and that would explain my powers." So I levitated, and then flew to work, arriving. I never realized that it was a dream, I literally believed that genetics were responsible for all of that. In the dream, it made perfect sense. I had both been late to work, AND watched all three X-Men movies the day before having that dream. Hah.

I remember one night where I was having a hard time to sleep, I recall someone opening the light then he left with the door open, I said 'hey why the f*** don't you close the door'. So I barely got up ( was very tired ) and closed the door and went back to bed. Suddenly a mirror appeared out of nowhere and I found myself wearing a black cape. I said to myself ' man, is it haloween ? I'm so tired i'll undress this thing tomorrow '

Ugggh I want to hit myself for that
