      African dream root

      Hi.

I'm about to receive a gift from one of my friends, a "dream herb" supposedly used by African shamans to achieve precognitive dreams. It's called Silene capensis.

For a while my friend used to eat this every day. The clarity of his dreams increased, he told me, and he was usually walking through natural landscapes. But then, (I'm guessing because he took it too much) the dream realm sometimes appeared before his eyes in waking life. He stopped eating the herb.

Some quotes I found from a website:

"This obscure flowering species is regarded by shamans of the South African region as a type of "Ubulawu" or medicinal root that they call "Undela Ziimhlophe," which translates literally as "white paths" or white ways." It is suspected that this sacred plant's oneirongenic, or dream-inducing activity is likely due to triterpenoid saponins contained within its roots.
One of the ancestors will appear in your dream with the answer. This plant is not just used for vivid dreams, but as a divination tool.
Since my trip to Peru and the people I've met there I'm becoming more and more attracted to shamanism. I'm not sure if there's anything coincidental in this root suddenly appearing in my life, I hadn't asked for it at all.

I plan to drink a solution of the root every morning for a week. Every night before sleep I'll meditate.

This will be where I write down my dreams. It might take a while until I start this because my friend hasn't received the roots yet, but I figured maybe one of you has any experience with this, or something similar?

Like the dishes still asking to be washed, things will not be solved by covering them with a blanket.
