      Sleep paralysis

I've been having the worst experiences ever, three nights in a row :/

I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm aware of my surroundings and I can't move. I start to hear the ringing in my head and I get real excited thinking it's time to go out of body. I don't, instead the noise gets louder and louder until it feels like my head is going to split.

I try to keep my cool and just go with the flow you know, but nothing works. Eventually i wake up, after what feels like hours of terror, completely exhausted.

Do you have any special tricks for getting out of body or just waking up while experiencing sleep paralysis?

Do not allow yourself to feel fear, or terror or any of these emotion types. They will indefinitely and instantaneously inhibit anything you are trying to do. To go out of body, you have to use your imagination. All you have to do is will yourself out of your body.

I used to get this commonly. It takes high power will and indurance to drag yourself into a lucid dream through this, but I've experienced some pretty intense stuff doing it. Drag urself out of bed and try to stabilize, chances are you are already in a dream. To exit SP wiggle your toes and fingers, stay relaxed and focused.

Here is my method for transitioning from SP into a dream:

1.) Breathe deeply and relax while all the noises and vibrations are going on. DON'T BE AFRAID, BECAUSE IT CANNOT HARM YOU. Fear will hinder you from your goal.

2.) Eliminate all throughts from your mind except one: You are about to enter a dream. Letting your mind wander will only create make a non-lucid dream, so stay focused.

3.) Visualize what you would see if you were to open your eyes. This is what I do. What position have you fallen asleep in? Lying on your back, or left / right side? For example if your head is turned towards a closet, then focus on this image, looking at this closet in your room, and this scene should slowly begin to become clearer and clearer, until it becomes pretty vivid. At this point, you are already in your dream. When it feels right, just get out of bed using your dream body.

You can also try visualizing another dream scene, but for me personally, WILDing works best this way. You can also try focusing on opening your "dream eyes" when it feels just right. It should produce the same effect, once you are already 10 - 15 seconds in SP.

Thanks for all your advice! I'll try to remember this next time I get stuck in SP

@Dreamdimensions Yeah wiggling my toes and fingers usually helps but whenever I tried it during these SPs the noise only got even higher. Same thing when I tried to take deep breaths. This convinced me, it may sound ridiculous, that I was being punished for trying to snap out of it.

I might also add, that during all three occasions it felt like someone was gripping my leg consistently trying to drag me out of bed. Prolly just a hallucination, which I realized but nevertheless scared the hell out of me.

Hi chaps...i get SP quite alot, most nights actually and i also used to get that thing where i felt a most terrible fear then i would feel an "evil presence" i could never see this thing but knew it was there, it would grab me by the feet or ankles and drag me about the bed, sometimes dragging me off the bed and i would land with a massive "thud"! i have had terrifying experiences but have now learnt to controll it so that it doesn't get to that stage..as soon as i hear the "swooshing" noise and feel that throbbing of my head at the same time i think ..ok keep calm nothing can hurt me, im safe and i look for a dream to begin instead, it usually looks like tunnel vision but its all black, then i begin to see a dream in the distance start to manifest, if i feel it dissapearing i think of something and that brings a dream scene back, i stay focussed and slow my breathing down as it can get rather fast if i let the fear controll me instead of the other way around! sometimes if it doesn't work and i dont get into a lucid dream i will just wake up, otherwise i go lucid and love it the trick is just to stay calm and focussed on your intent to go into a LD, if you fear it then it will make any hallucination worse which you will fear more allowing the hallucination to get worse, like a circle of fear...you fear and it gets worse which makes you fear more which then makes it even more worse..i always think about my nan and grandad who have both passed away when this happens and it really helps to imagine them close to you, also if you do get to the point where you feared and the thing is getting you etc, face it and ask "what do you want" also send out love to it, you may be suprised..hope i was of some help

To get out of sp often i can't do anything but eventually I'll manage to wiggle my toes. often after I'll keep slipping into sp and it will scare me being paralized and not being able to enter a dream. I think the best thing to do is just relax and flow with it. I personally trip in being in sleep paralysis. soooo your really have to be comfortable with being paralysized. I am normally really uncomfortable with that unless its only very short before I enter a dream or exit onto the astral plane.
