Shot while astral traveling!

i needto tell someone, last nite i astral traveled but as soon as i walked to my bedroom door i opened it and a huge dark shaow thing was standing there blocking me, i felt like it was really evil and then the weirdest thing happened it pulled out a gun looking item and shot me i fell to the floor in almost a uncofortable pain not really a intence one. then i was shoved back in my body! what could this entity be?? thx

I've read a post about shadowy figures trying to kill someone while they were astral travelling. There was one with a scythe and one that just completely mauled and ripped him to shreds.

I wonder what this strange phenomenon could be.

That could be all kinds of beings. There are even some astral travelers (humans) who enjoy hurting or scaring other people for fun. You could ask one of your guides what it was.

The demon within. 99% of the time these shadow figures are manifestations of our own fear. Not real entities. This also means you have power over them, if you can face your fear. Even when they're entities outside the mind, your attention and compassion work like a flashlight against them.

I often wonder how many of these things are purely mental creations. Maybe it is in a way both real and personal. In these planes you will encounter regions and entities which correspond with your own inner states. So being fearful would cause you to run into black shadow creatures. They could have their own existence, yet be simultaneously a personal symbol. Your travel with your mind, so whatever is in your mind will determine where you travel (or who you meet.)

In this state your mind also has the capability of creating entities which are "real" in as much as that word has meaning. When someone dies their inner demons become as real as the world they used to be apart of. But because it exists within the mind, the mind also has power over it.

Jon, do you have much experience with energywork or chi gong? If not, I highly recommend you do some in-body practice. Robert Bruce has a great book called Energywork with a lot of good foundations. It helps to learn to shield and things like that. IMO, it's extremely important to have some basic energywork skills before you astral travel. The things that prey on you just as you exit are usually pretty scary, but they are not normally very strong if you know how to defend yourself. Worst case scenario, pray or call for help or retreat to your body.
