And people asked the samething...the 1 million dollar offer is actually a HOAX, i wish the forum on that site was still up cuz i would send u the link to the topic, because they explain everything and how it is a hoax... They had plenty of people willing to sign up for the 1 million dollar offer, but the thing is, the 1 million dollars wasnt even cash or a check..it was some kind of thing from the BANK, which honestly couldnt even be possible.. Read:

"The first $10,000 of the prize money will be paid by check, as stated in the Challenge rules, immediately upon the successful demonstration of their claim. The prize money is held in the form of bonds as a way to publicly show that the money really does exist. These immediately convertible bonds will be awarded to the Challenge winner within 10 days of passing the formal test. The manner of transfer of these bonds will be at the discretion of the JREF and the Challenge winner, in accordance with acceptable legal standards."

      Still 10k.
      Plus you would be famous.

Who cares if its just bonds

Do you have any idea how much money a "psi" user would be able to make going around on TV shows and stuff?

Even if not for the money, anyone that did "psi" that could demonstrate it would probably go through the bowls of hell itself just to prove to others that they aren't a crackpot.

In reality though, tk does make sense, especially if you realize that everything in the world is energy. Be it the human mind, be it the air that surrounds us, or be it an entirely immobile form, such as a glass bottle, all those things are comprised of energy. This information implies that even though we may not realize, or accept it, we are connected with everything that surrounds us. Combine that with the knowledge that the average human being only uses a small percentage of his/her brain, and the things that humans have accomplished using that small percentage of mind power, it isn't too hard to accept the fact that if we utilized one hundred percent, or for that matter, fifty percent of our brain power, the things that we could possibly acheive.

here's a thread about the ignorant James Randi.

It's a legally binding contract. If Randi did not pay you and you passed, it would be fraud. A fraud you could sue him for, and a case that would win you a lot more than $1m. I believe the $1m is in bonds and in a bank.

The test is not done by him, it is done by an independent party both agree on. You can even get your very own lawyer to check the existence of the cash, Randi is more than happy to help.

The situation of "win" and "lose" for the test is also agreed on by both parties. e.g. you will both agree that you win the test if you can move the pinwheel under the jar while standing the other side of the room, and the independent adjudicators will be the ones to decide that.

If it is the world's most elaborate hoax (and some hoax it would be), why has nobody taken the test? Using super-duper psi-powers doesn't cost you anything, and it's not like you'd have anything to lose.

The pitfall is when your "power" is the most vague thing ever:
As it has been explained repeatedly by Randi in his email correspondence" He only sent me one email, that said "The heat from your hand is causeing [sic] the object to move, thats not paranormal"[/b]
Yes. Look, it's a scientific test. What Randi can't do is run around to every half-arsed claim like this and spend a lot of time and energy - let's face it, independent adjudicators, checks at the ready, legally binding agreements, it's not going to be cheap for him - when it's rather obviously not psychic.

Now, if you can move a television set by the power of your mind, that's a test I bet you Randi would love to help you with.

Because it's more or less impossible to be accepted. Look at this thread below. A guy says that he finally can move the psi-wheel under a jar but in his e-mail he calls mr. Randi "ignorant" and that makes them angry and they respond that they will close the case and block his e-mail... *sigh*

You could also reason the other way round that randi was being truthfall and not ignorant. Its impossible to prove such claims and it falls to belife again. Or a skeptic would call it magical thinking. In any case conjuction reasoning should be stopped here as it will get you nowhere. Sherlock Holmes

Human beings do not only use a small percentage of their brains. Period. People still believe that myth?

As for your analogy, it isn't valid...you don't understand the fundamental differences in energy and matter.

As for the video by spiritwolf, I can find hundreds of magic videos on youtube that pull off much crazier shit.

BTW, my roommate is a magician, I can post crazier webcam videos of his than most of this stuff posted or talked about here. My point is, anyone can do anything with the right setup. Hell, look at David Copperfield walking around with half his body cut off.

Well, ofcourse you can get crazier shit, it's easy to do it. But this isn't a competition. It's that some of us believe in some stuff and supposedly those videos are made for the believers. Lets just say that you don't have to be a magician at all to walk without a body on the internet.

See he wanted to test PK with a Psi wheel. Now a psi wheel works because the heat from your hand moves the paper around the pin. See it just basic heat and not Pk. Skeptic explanation is

The human body maintains its core body temperature by releasing excess heat through the skin into the surrounding air. Thus when warm hands are placed on either side of the psi-wheel, the air around the wheel becomes warmer than the surrounding air. This hot air rises above the surrounding colder air by convection, causing a small updraft that pushes on the psi-wheel. The positioning of the hands can manipulate the direction of the draft to cause the wheel to rotate. Any heat source, human or non-human, can reproduce this effect with the appropriate positioning.[/b]
      http://www.answers.com/topic/psi-wheel

Proof is about elimating the other possibillity since the person in the forum is using a psi wheel then skeptically you can dismiss the claim. Please don't talk about videos on youtube as they could be tricks. Well Rendi is not ignorant it is the other way round.

Before you could, rightfully, dismiss any claim, you'd have to prove that the above explanation actually works. And if it was being used to discredit youtube videos, you'd also have to explain, and demonstrate how people can (allegedly) move their psi-wheels both clockwise and counter-clockwise, without a change in hand position.

As of now, that quote is just a counter-claim - not proof.

Yes good point, however people who say that telekinesis is true and start talking about the psi wheel our stupid as it subjective. Rolling a dice and saying it turns head all the time and then saying I have telekinesis power is wrong because you leaving something to chance now the same is with the psi wheel. Their must be other way to test for PK then a psi wheel.

I just had a look on this topic for the first time. It's debating whether or not telekinesis exists or not... How is there an argument for its existence?! Can anyone prove beyond a shadow of a doubt of that it does exist? I'll be happy to change my mind if they can but for now I just think its a load of BS.

Yeah, but the deal is that only these "internet Tkers" do the psi-wheels and stuff, yes there are a few who move I-pods. But I'm much more interested in those "chinese" healers and "gurus" all over Asia, who do all those cool things, like heating stuff up or creating electricity, moving big items instead of those paper wheels and so on.

I try to be open minded about everything, and honestly believe that there may be a scarce few people in the world who are true telekinetics. Though if they ever took up Randi's offer and proved that they had TK, the government would come contain them immediately. More than likely, they would have to endure countless experiments until the Gov't either got tired of them or decided that they could be a possible threat against them and killed them off. So, even if there are actual telekinetics, they are either being held captive by the gov't b/c the did take up Randi's offer, or they were smart enough to avoid that risk. I hate to sound like a paranoid conspiracy theorist, but if you have heard some of the things I have heard about the gov't, then you might too.

Your not that paranoid as the soviet union captured Bhuddhist monks who displayed powers of TK. Now is the US as bad as the soviet union. Well if you could get published in a newspaper then it will be unlikely that the governement gets you as it would look awfully suspecious. Plus if you had TK you could evade capture easily.

Wow. Is this thread still going on. Just shows how contentious it is..
What many of the critics here are forgetting, is that most of us can move a little piece of paper in a very finely tuned situation.
At that scale, there's far too many factors to prove it to someone like Randi.

And, at the same time, no telekinetics have produced hard evidence for the phenomenon, so we have to accept that to the average person it simply doesn't exist - there's no evidence to prove that it does.
I wouldn't expect anyone to believe it on face value.

I believe it can be done, but only because I saw it on the discovery channel once. This guy had no use of his limbs. They implanted a chip into his brain that allowed him to move the computer cursor only using his brain. It actually worked, but that itsn't even the half of it...when the took the chip out of his brain the guy could still move the cursor only using his mind. The chip had somehow trained his brain to move the cursor. I'm sure that if that can be done then there is in fact a way to train your mind, using technology or not, to perform telekinesis. I guess you didn't see the show.
