      For interpretation

As I've commented elsewhere, for the past year or two instead of nightly metaphors in dreams I tend to get most of that in waking life. So here are a couple of images I would like interpretations for. I'd put this in inner-sanctum but it appears that almost nobody reads that, in large part due to its location, so I'll throw in a couple of recent astral/paranormal thoughts at the end of the post if anyone wants to discuss those also.

My wife and I just bought a house. On the left side of the front door entry there is this:

      photo.jpg

And on the right side is this:

      photo.JPG

Between these objects there's also a round stone design/symbol in the floor, maybe like something you'd step into if you wanted to conjure up a demon, except pretty rather than creepy. I forgot to take a picture of that. Maybe I'll add it in a couple of weeks if it seems relevant.

If you dreamed of these images, how would you interpret them, aside from thoughts along the lines of "somebody with bad taste has too much money to spend on art"?

In some descriptions of 'higher worlds', the so-called astral plane is the unmanifest side of the physical plane. Lately I'm thinking that any accurate description that someone might come up with, in terms of higher states of vibration or whatever, probably needs to accommodate that idea. In some sense the astral plane is not 'real', and yet that's an important part of its power.

In dreams that I have been having lately, it seems that there is a dragon-like spiritual counterpart to each one of us that's sort of like a higher self and sort of like a familiar spirit. I guess this isn't a new idea for me, but my dreams have been more like that lately. It seems that if you believe in yourself, and don't hide for yourself, it empowers both you and that other part of you, which you may then become more conscious of.

No opinion on what they represent, beyond what history books say about it. Hope the links are interesting, at least to get you started.

Thanks. This weekend I found a picture of the specific artifact its a copy of.

British Museum - Stone relief from the North-West Palace of Ashurnasirpal*II (Room Z)

I see that there are similar images where the angel has an eagle's head, which seems to fit also. And in another image, maybe taken from the same gateway, he holds a deer in his arm and a 'tree of life' in his hand, instead of a goat and an ear of grain.

Hey, you bought a house! Cool. I do not mean to pry in a negative way, think of it as trying to be a friend. Does this mean you will be actively living in the house? If so,, that is wonderful!

No, I don't actually get to live in my house. And after 6 months of trying I've had no success finding a job nearby, with no visible reason the next six months is likely to be different. Its only a 9 hour drive each way from my office to visit though.

Thanks for asking. No, with me nothing like that is every prying.

I wanna know more what you mean by dragon-like spiritual counterpart. I only know of one other member of this board that a dream similar to mine.

And if I saw those two things in my dream, I would interpret it as "you are now entering a space to remember something ancient and mystical". But if it was my dream, I'd assume for the space to work its mystic magic, you first need to light some candles on that candelabra.

Thanks juroara. I'll make a point to light some candles there. That's not something I would have thought of. And I hope you're right about remembering something. That encourages me that circumstances will allow me to be there with the rest of my family.

I'm not sure what to say on the 'dragon-like spiritual counterpart'. I've posted on this a lot, but not so much in threads you have been active in, and maybe not as much lately. As I mentioned, for the past two years I haven't been getting as much food for thought in my own dreams. More has come through life experiences, and other people's dreams. My own dreams have been less lucid, and more abstract, almost like the content is so unfamiliar to my way of thinking that I don't know how to make metaphors for it. Maybe the muse has been back lately in something more like its earlier form though, if not as strongly, which is what I was referring to.

As an example of someone else's dream that says something to me, here's one from last week on another site which I'd already pointed out to a couple of other people.

DreamMoods.com • View Topic - This dream has to mean something....

I don't see too much on this site like this, but maybe I don't visit the right subforums. And I don't post many of my dreams here, because no subforum seems to fit well. Maybe I'll say more later, my plane will board now, and its hard to cut and paste on my phone.

      Thanks again for the ideas.
