hey guys, um...yesterday i had a dream that was quite interesting... I had a dream where i saw a vivid image of god.. but before i explain the dream i must explain my past with highly religous dreams

When i was 13 I had a dream I was up in the clouds talking to god.. i had asked him a question and when he talked a white light would flash behind the clouds.. it didnt mean anything to me until my senior year in highschool when we were watching the simpsons.. In the beginning of the show it showed moses standing at the edge of a mountain talking to God, and everytime God talked a white light would flash behind the clouds... that was a interesting connection so many years later.

Just recently a month a so ago i had posted on here about my other dream i had about Jesus... But this time i was sort of jesus... In my dream i was at my old house in my old bathroom laying on the floor.. I yelled outloud "FATHER! WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!!" and a few seconds later i was calm and looked up to the ceiling and said "Father..please forgive them, for they do not understand" and took a wooden spike that was in my hand and stabbed it through my upper pex..sort of like a crucification..

But the next dream, which i had yesterday evening during a nap, was wicked.. FYI i have been trying to better my life for god and jesus--i am a christian---but onto the dream..

The dream straight up began with me *knowing for some reason i was dead or something* I saw an elderly guy with white hair, and a white beard sitting on a big throne drinking some champagne... I looked over to the right side of the room and facing who was to be GOD was JESUS.. I saw Jesus from the side, and yes he looked like we protray him to be today.. and I remember falling to my feet and just crying reallly really intensly... I said "Oh God why!!"

Sobbing in tears, I open my eyes to only find myself back on earth....I wake up from my dream and through out the rest of the evening i try to understand why i came to earth... and i figured out why... The reason why i came to earth, was to face the day of judgement, and be cast into the lake of fire in hell....

Very intense dream with deep meaning....sort of a wake up call for me...

Interesting. I had a similar dream. I dreamt that I was in a higher realm, in heaven. And while I was there, I had pictured God's physique, as being very muscular.

I had a dream the Christian God was flying in the sky above my house. He had the stereotyped look. And he looked pissed off, but he did not do anything.

I believe that the whole "lake of fire" bit was an extension of the Jesus theme. Technically, in order to "die for our sins", Jesus had to go to hell. Otherwise he couldn't exactly suffer for the sins of the world and whatnot.

Someone has got a bit of a saving people complex.

I think you shouldn't worry about what anybody else thinks. You know what this means to you.

Floor 39, the last level before Heaven.

Strange, when I was much younger, I had a dream. I don't remember what led up to it, but by the end, God or Jesus (it was a long time ago, can't remember well) took me and my family, and made a home for us on a floor of this giant glass tower. I looked at a sign outside of the house's door and it said "Floor 39". I looked up and expected to see "Floor 40", but all I saw was a luminous light.

interesting how everyone is different! When I see God in my dream God looks more like PJ's signature - very bright organic light.

I think that your subconscious mind is just feeding back to you some of the things that have been put into it in the past spiritofthewolf. Sounds like you may have been under the influence of a little too much fire and brimstone preaching.

What I would suggest is reprogramming your subconscious mind by meditating on some positive verses from the Bible like the following:

And lo I am with thee always, even unto the end of the world. Matt:28:20

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:1

For in him we live, and move, and have our being. Acts 17:28

In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thess 5:18

And one of the all time favorites Psalms 23:

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

By reprogramming your subconscsious mind by meditating on verses like the above, your subconscious mind can then begin giving you better feedback from what you have put in it.

You've always been one of my favorite posters spiritofthewold. If I can ever be of help to you in any way, don't hesitate to ask.

Well, I think I'm going to move this thread to Beyond Dreaming, as it seems to belong in there. I'm not sure though, if anyone has any better ideas of where this thread belongs, tell me. But regardless of where it should go, I found this dream you posted extremely interesting, spiritofthewolf.

First off, I am a complete and utter atheist. However despite this, I have always had a huge fascination with religious and theological topics, mainly through my interest in culture and the way human society works, etc. Sort of an anthropological thing, I guess. I especially like nostradamus-esque type stuff, and this seems to fall under that category.

The main thing that interested me in this dream, spiritofthewolf, was your mind's... decidedly anthropomorphic representation of god in this dream. Meaning, god as a person., a human-like figure. But more than that. Jesus appears to. And instead of being at God's right hand, as most Christians may have pictured him, he is instead on the opposite side of the room, facing god. Like a standoff type thing. Have I got that picture in my mind right? Tell me if I've gotten that wrong.

But, here's an interesting thought for you: In the dream, God doesn;t appear to judge you. Rather, it seems you have judged YOURSELF by your own reaction TO god, ie, "Oh God, why" and crying. Perhaps this is significant. Perhaps this is how judgement works? If one thinks of heaven as a place where all self-illusions are stripped away., and one;s life is laid bare before them - perhaps what determines whether we ascend to heaven or are cast down into hell, is not God's judgement, but our own judgement and reflection on our life. God, rather than a judge, enables us to honestly judge our life in accordance with our own values by stripping away our ego, self-illusion, and laying our lives before us when we die.

This is actually the belief held by nearly everyone who has experienced an NDE. most felt they judged themselves rather than having God judge them. Some seem to think they would rather have God judge them though, as facing every mistake youve made in life can be um . . well . . . revealing

Some say it is God judging you, but more like the God in you judging you sorta deal

Others also make a point in saying that while your life is layed out in front of you to be judge, no witnesses in the room hold any judgment *such as angels* so you dont feel so . . naked

That's some interesting stuff. I am an atheist, but I was a full blown Christian for a long time. I have been having religious dreams my whole life. A lot of them have been far more trippy and intense than anything a psychedelic drug could produce (other than DMT because it is the neurotransmitter that causes such dreams). I have had some wild religious experiences in dreams with feelings that are not even possible to have in waking life.

I think I have had only one dream where I actually saw God. He was a giant human looking thing, and he was wearing a wizard hat, I think. I can't recall whether he had a beard. I think he might have had a little bit of hair on just his chin. Whatever it was, that dream seemed just as real as reality, but in an alternate dimension. God was sitting in a judge's seat in what seemed to be like a divine court room. I guess it was judgment day, but I wasn't scared at all, just fascinated.

I had one dream where I saw Jesus. A friend asked me if I accept communion with Jesus Christ. I don't know who the friend was, and I didn't get a look at him, but I was asked the question. I responded as though some friend asked me if I want to eat a piece of bread and drink a sip of wine at a Catholic or Episcopalian church. So I very nonchalantly said, "No." As soon as I said it, I thought about how that question could mean, "Do you want to be with Jesus for eternity?" At the exact instant I thought of that, I realized that I had ruined my eternity, and I saw Jesus looking at me like I had done the most horrendous thing imaginable. He looked like a good friend whose feelings I had really hurt, as if I had betrayed him as much as I possibly could. He seemed very human, and it was as if he was somebody I knew. Maybe he was the friend who asked the question? I woke up immediately and felt really freaked out. I was in a motel right outside of Atlanta when I had the dream. I got up and headed back to Jackson with my family right after I woke up. That dream was heavy on my mind the whole ride.

The dreams I have had about Satan and Hell have been absolute HORROR. Just like the God/Jesus dreams, some of them have seemed as real as reality, and some of them even more real than reality and produced emotions that go beyond the limits of waking consciousness. Some of them have been so horrible that I went through the next day feeling like I might be in trouble with supernatural forces. That has not happened in a very long time. They mostly happened in my first few years after being a Christian and before I became an atheist. I had a five year agnostic period, and that is when I had the majority of those horror dreams about Satanic forces. I am still a little spooked out even talking about them. I saw God once in a dream and Jesus once in a dream, but I saw Satan in dreams more times than I can keep up with. I saw him very vividly, and his point in most of them was that he in fact DOES exist and he wanted me to know it. In one of them, I had a face to face conversation with him at a table in a cafe. He was very dressed up and wearing a dressy hat, like a slick gangster. His face was completely white, like he had on clown make up. He reminded me of a Joker in a deck of cards, except he wasn't wearing goofy clothes. What really wigged me out was that he said crazy things that I couldn't make sense of... until I woke up and thought about them. Interestingly, I had that dream a few weeks before I became a full blown atheist. I was obviously having some serious subconscious conflicts.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

you hurt Jesus' feelings! oh why oh why! do you know if you had this dream before or after you became an atheist?

a lot of christians, former or not, have had satanic dreams of some kind - though many dont talk about it. when I was 12 years old I had two, two nights in a row. When I was little my parents like to dress me up as a devil. I was a red horned devil for three halloweens in a row. Probably starting at age 6.

When I was around ten years old other christians introduced me into the idea of how halloween is the devil's birthday, or at least how Satan wants you to think of him as a comedic character so you dont take him seriously - part of this was dressing up as a devil and thinking of it as a joke. Also, my dad invited me to watch Omen one day - but then left to take a nap. I was. . . terrified. . .

well, my nightmare started out as a halloween party at school. I ran with some friends to the science hall, and we hid in the biology lab. We turned off the lights and started to play hide and seek - away from the adults who are like these evil things when you are 12. All of my friends disappeared, or I couldn't find them in the dark lab. Except for one of my friends, a male, who was dressed up as a devil for halloween.

He stood in the center of the room and told me to close the door and to come closer to him. His appearance wasn't frightening. But suddenly he had this aura around him, as if by dressing up as the devil he invited Satan into his own being, becoming one with Satan. Just, pure evil was what I felt from him.

I said 'No', I was terrified of him. Instead I slowly backed out of the door into the lit hallway, not trying to move to suddenly as if he was a wild animal. He came at me and he came at me fast. The light caught his face and I can see it was no longer human. He knocked me down onto the floor and proceeded to rip my clothes off. I woke up before he would have raped me.

This was the only nighmare that scared me so much that I woke up sitting up, like in movies. By my bedside was a black figure, man shaped, it slowly disappeared. The next night I had a similiar nightmare - of the nature of being raped by Satan to give birth to the anti-christ. In that one I felt slightly better because in the ending I rejected him, including his wedding ring. beetlejuice anyone?

I was so terrified of those two nightmares, I actually carried the mentality for some time that I should never have children in case it did turn out to be the anti-christ. . A friend I met in highschool said she had a similiar nightmare, hers at age 17 though, and that it was so horrific she can barely speak of it, instead she just chokes up in tears. Actually, I cant blame her. My nightmare branded me so harshly I didnt tell anyone about it until I met her. I couldnt even write it down on paper without shaking.

I became really fascinated in dreams becuase it was in dreams that I learned to overcome that unhealthy fear deep in my subconscious of demonic rape. It ended quite the other way around nearly ten years later, by having an angelic host sing for me. I will say though, after those two nightmares I never liked it when anybody dressed up as a devil for any occassion. I just dont find it so...amusing anymore.
