Would you reccomend buying a ouija board?

Im curious, i would like to buy one just to mess around. Some people swear they are evil and bring nothing but bad experiences, others are convinced that they are just toys. i was just wondering what YOUR opinion was about these things.

I think they're just toys, but they can be entertaining.

I've never used one. But come on, it's a mass produced item, how dangerous can it be?
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

I recommend you to not use one. I've "played" around with them before, and I've had some creepy experiences. Let's just say that I've seen too much to believe that they are just toys. In my opinion, they shouldn't be mass produced.

I've also heard some really creepy stories about séances and ouija boards. BUT I've also read a lot about the physical explanaition, the ideomotor effect. They're like small muscle movements you don't notice because you're subconsciously making them. SO, in a séance, if you really believe a message will be spelt out by a spirit, your finger will feel as if it's moving on its own. It really does feel as if you're not controling your finger, so it's obviously a bit freaky. But it's just a subconscious muscle movement. And the message is spelt out by your subconscious too, so you have no idea what's going to be spelt out, it just suddenly appears there. Of course, to someone who believes in ghosts, it can be a very terrifying experience. It just depends.

I personally don't believe in it...AT THE MOMENT.
I'd like to try it out, though. But a small part of my brain is still slightly scared of it.

It is a fun thing to play with.

      It is also completely fake.

      How to prove this:
      - Blindfold all participants
      - Have one person not hold the dial
      - The observer will speak the letters the dial shows

Given that spirits are allegedy the ones that are controlling the dial, there should be no spelling errors and communication should still be easily maintained.

Unfortunately, this not the case. The dial utterly fails and spells complete nonsense. Thus leaving the deducible conclusion that the people are unconsciously effecting the resulting communication.

If you believe otherwise, try the experiment yourself. Make sure that you try more than one observer to remove possible bias for confirmation.

Otherwise, hey, it is a lot of fun anyway. My friends and I have certainly spent a few nights talking to Captain Howdy.

There are lots of crazy things that can happen with a ouija board. George Noory was going to do a show and use it live but eventually was convinced against. I believe it's not the board itself but the person who possesses the ability so for some people it will work and for others it won't. I don't plan on messing around with one and I think that it could open doors that will be hard to close.

I see it as if it's not real then theres no point playing with it and if it is real it's too dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

What a disappointing show that was. A lot of hype for a big let down!

Buy it. Then ask it questions about who or what you are contacting. Then ask for proof of it's presence. You will probably get a big surprise!
I have had several entertaining experiences this way. Usually I don't "play" again for several years after doing it because I get too scared to do it again for awhile.

Just depends. I don't think they are wise to play with if your very open and believe in spirits and such. If you don't, then fine, play around, it holds no power and is useless other than to make fun of maybe. But if you didn't have a little interest and belief in that stuff you wouldn't want to play with one anyway, right?

A lot of that energy and power you are using to totally focus and channel into the board can do things you didn't intend for it to do to your mind. Your mind can play tricks on you by your state of mind, even if something isn't "real" you can think it is. Just some thoughts. A side note, just since something is mass produced doesn't mean it is safe Not to make any judgements one way or the other on the board game itself tho.

Guns are mass produced, motorbikes are mass produced, knives are mass produced, chain saws are mass produced, hydrochloric acid is mass produced, rat poison is mass produced.......I think you get the point.

Anyway, I think it all depends how open you are to it. The more skeptic you are, the less chance there is of it working, right? You have to believe.

I've heard people say that evil spirits are closer to earth than good ones (since good ones go to the good place) so oijua boards would attract the evil ones.

I've never played with one, but my parents and grandparents did. They would do it while drunk, and it was always good fun. Then one day they blamed my grandfather for moving the glass, and he got pissed off and took his hands away. Moments later the glass shot into the air and shattered. So ya, dunno what explains that, but they were all a little spooked and haven't played in a while.

Make of it what you will, just be careful not to piss any spirits off in case it is real.

they are just toys, there are not spirits that answer your questions beacause they can through some sort of magic board. i generaly laugh at people who use them and take them seriously

My mom said she and her friend played one and they got to talk to it and she said it is 100% real and they got the piece that the spirit "moves" to hover up to 4 inches above the board. She said it while being dead serious and she won't let me use one because she thinks it will attract evil spirits.

Ouija; fun for parties, but when it comes to communicating with the dead, I don't believe. Then again, I'm a skeptic when it comes to such matters. I might try that experiment described by O'nus just for kicks though.

Back when I was younger, my friends were into Ouija. Two of them were "masters" of the board, impressing us with their abilities to communicate with spirits and regaling us with tales of how each had met her "spirit lover" and had further contact with him. Of course, it was all so far-fetched that I didn't believe them for long. But that's my experience; yours just might be different.

I agree, it's all fake. I know they move not by us moving them to make a letter or say something, but they move from your mind, or by your subconcsious. They aren't really talking to spirits, they are just you talking to you or them.

Also, use a video camera instead of a person.

Thats still pretty amazing that people are unconsciously moving a physical object like that

How do you know the spirit isn't doing it to get there attention? Kind of like when your mad at someone not answering you on AIM/MSN, you just spam the keyboard:

No. Just make one yourself. Google the design, copy it onto a large, smooth piece of paper with magic marker (or whatever), and use a lightweight cup, turned upside-down for the pointer. Then let us know what happens.

Remember if you are playing the board looking to be scared, IT WILL TRY AND SCARE YOU. Me and my sis played it all the time, saw some crazy shadow movement, connected with loads of spirits, most of the time we were thinking (and i was knowing she was gonna try and scare me) playing with the board to see the crazy stuff, so what happens? well, tons of death threats. One time we said "show us you're there", later on like half an hour we saw a shadow figure. But of course it all ties to how you approach the board, and what your intent on what you wannado with the board is. If you're intending it to look up bad things you will recieve bad things, same with good things.
We know before we start with the board what our intent is, even without knowing we know what our intent is, so we recieve what we really wanted all along. People love negativity, and bad things, thrills and stuff pretty much all the time, so that's what we recieve.

Even though people think it's a joke or fake it's not. It represents a portal where demons can communicate and in which they might act as a ghost so they tend to fool people. Even if you say that it did not work you already open the portal. It can also work depending on what kind of energy you draw into it. So my advice is not to use it, once you use it you're open to negative possibilities. If you're really going to use it, I would advice to put some kind of protection. I would not recommend using it alone. Also think what question you're going to ask before using it.

Of course, sometimes no matter what is said or done; nothing can prove some peoples assumptions false.

I would say give it a shot. I use the board all the time and have been talking to this one spirit for about 6 months now. Nothing bad has happened and I can honestly say im not in any danger. I would advice you do your research ahead of time though.

That aside, a Ouija board is a piece of wood with letters on it and a plastic heart. Go for it if you feel so inclined.
