      Reality check... through vision.

What would it be like to be a lucid dreamer who once had vision and then through some tragic accident, went blind? After a while, I would suppose you'd know you were dreaming SOLELY when you were able to see!

So I propose an experiment I'm going to do later this year... I'm curious if anyone will want to join me. (It means no DV for a month, though!)

I'm going to blindfold my self for a 30 days. I will be able to save the money for it in advance no problem. I plan on getting an audio recorder in order to make daily journal entries and then I want to turn the entire experiment into a book, half a section for waking life, and half a section for my dreams.

What do you imagine your dreams would be like after being blind for a week? What do you imagine your recall would be like when all the "images" you associated with your brain in recent times you could say indisputably came from your dreams?

I believe I could learn an awful lot about my self through this experiment... I've always considered my dreams a vital extension of my reality.

I think this would do wonders to your recall and could teach us an awful lot about our dreams and ourselves. (Not to mention give us a renewed appreciation for our eyes.)

Would anyone be interested in trying this some time themselves? I hope to get a few people interested and then all share feedback with each other. It'll probably be about 6 months before I undertake it my self.

      -K

I wonder if blind people have dreams where they don't see.....
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake

In one book I read (Robert Bruce's?), he interviews a man who was born without vision at birth. Their dreams are... different. Chances are they have full visual experiences but can't translate it into the brain upon return. I've never asked someone who at one point had sight and then lost it later on in life, though.

this would turn out to be a really instresting set of results, good luck on your experiment, i can imagine you from time to time having dreams where you think you're awake and have lost your blindfold then think your experiment has failed. I would probably have dreams like that.

It would be a good dream sign and i guess since you would be honing in on all your other senses since you've lost sign the vividity would be incredible.

Also would be a great way to see life from the perspective of a blind person.
      Good luck.
I may try this in the summer sometime.

I read in Robert bruce's book a story like this. A man (blind from birth) says he can not see in dreams but does not need vision..... He says it's like touching everything with peception/awareness, he can feel the entire dream Knowing everything around him without physically touching or seeing it.
