Where Do You Stand - Dream Guides

Quite simply, I wanted to know how many believe in dream guides?

      Yes, to an extent.

I do not believe Dream Guides are any sort of exterior force. This merely adds additional complications that are not needed, and per Occam's Razor make it less likely.

What I do believe is that they are extensions of your conscious mind that are taking a different viewpoint against the prevailing view of your awareness.

One can never see all of themselves - every person that you meet will have a different perspective of you. This will be comprised of their impressions, their prejudices, and their entire life experiences acting on both of the above. Dream Guides provide a similar thing; they may work on ideals that your main consciousness has not taken on board.

      Yeah.

I often find that any old DC will tell me the barebones truth about myself too.

Dream Guides are essentially manifestations of your subconscious, a face to it if you will.

This would appropriately fit in the normal On-Topic forum, nothing beyond dreaming about it.

In some peoples opinion DGs are spirits, so I find it suitable to be in this forum. Although I personally do not favor that idea.

I don't know what to think about dream guides. My dream guides or should I call them dream characters don't tell me anything about myself. They will only answer me if I am looking for someone and where to find them. I would love it it a dc will tell me something and actually cooperate.

Why not? (Not baiting. Promise. Just curious.)

      Yeah okay...
I stuck it here because I know that some people believe its more than just your subconscious. I figured those who didn't would have been mature enough not to make such a bitchy point. Although at the time of writing this, I do agree about it being nothing more than your subconscious.

Yes! In the sense they exists as a part of my subconcious, of course. That and I wouldn't like it to be a wandering spirit, would feel bad in waking about them <.<

I believe that they are manifestations of spirit/divine intelligence. So am I. Aren't we all?

We are like dreams dreaming dreams within dreams dreaming
Thought plus emotion creates attitude. Attitude plus action creates experience and experience determines reality

Well, the biggest problem is the lack of evidence, i hate to say it because personally i AM a believer of shit like that in general, but without any evidence its always just gonna be one mans word against the other. I just hope we all live long enough to see something like that happen lol. Imagine a device that could record your dreams. o.O

Not to derail the thread or anything, but they're working on that, and getting very close to it.

I just woke up and accidentally voted for "Yes, to an extend" since it was the only one that had an (explain) on it.

I believe that spirits are the same thing as mental manifestations, only that it doesn't mean that one's mental manifestation isn't able to affect others and the world as well.

To me, Spirit/Dream guides are another facet of yourself, another focus of will and awareness that "shares the same room as you", but if you change the point of view in the situation, you are another facet of your other side, just as both are but faces of the same being.

In my view it works just as those balancing reactions, like on heat balancing or osmosis, or even chemical balance.
      "Always refreshing."

I believe through talking to what you percieve as a dreamguide, you are really accessing the link to your subconscious mind, which is normally, for most people, completely gone while you are properly conscious.

You see, when you are properly conscious throughout the day, most people who haven't learned how to effectively listen and speak to their subconscious are completely shut off from it. But it's almost like it's own brain with nearly limitless potential. It tries to tell you things all the time.

Being that your entire reality in your lucid dreams is a complete fabrication of your subconscious, any characters you see, such as "dream guides" are just personified versions of your active subconscious. While you ARE conscious in a lucid dream, you are conscious in a completely different way, with your brainwaves operating in the theta range as opposed to beta or alpha. As a recognizable biproduct of this, your logic is completely different than it would be were you actually awake.

I think 'dreamguides' are just a useful concept for people who don't have practice communicating with themselves, or don't know how. Really, any part of your lucid dream is your subconscious. Any DC you talk to is still that same direct link to your limitless subconscious mind, but maybe if you don't believe that a DC can give you REAL advice about yourself, then you may need to spawn your dreamguide to serve as a sort of placebo effect so that you really get good info from it.

Either way, whether you assign spiritual meaning to it or not, it is still part of you that will tell you if there's anything wrong, what you need to do, why you've been feeling a certain way, etc. Whether you believe it's some devine being, or whether you believe it's just a part of your mind, it's still a MAGNIFICENT tool to have for learning all about yourself.

To me it's the one's higher self, which is fully free from our fears, lazy, needs and clouds of confusion, maybe a perfect fusion of our mind. I also think that our DCs commonly represents fragments of our unconscious, thus we can find "living beings" of all sort of personalities that are deep in our mind, in our dreams.
