This doesn't necessarily mean it was a shared dream. Sometimes when telling dream characters they are part of your dream they will respond "No you are part of my dream.". There is very little proof, if any that shared dreams exist, not to say they don't but I think it's highly unlikely unless two people are setting their focus solely to do this.

Your first post is confusing. Are you saying that IRL she said that you are in her dream or was it in the dream? If in the dream, then it's just a DC and the way they act. If IRL, then that's something else

She told you, in real life, that you were in her dream? Did she give you any details? Do they synchronize with the dream you had, even on a symbolic level?

Just because she dreamed of you doesn't mean you shared a dream. I know personally I almost always dream of people I know, but they're in no way part of my dreams. Most people dream of others. If both of your dreams were the same, then maybe you shared a dream.

It becomes difficult to understand clearly, when 'shared dreaming' is used as a blanket for the many subtle ways.

There is shared lucid dreaming. Lucid, and shared...meaning both or all involved, are lucid.
Which tends to also mean that they are all AWARE that they were in this dream, with each other, WHILE IN THE DREAM.

But there are subtle differences with this also.

I have been in shared lucid dreams, where a friend and I would meet most nights, and then in the morning we would call each other. Not to confirm, but to continue where we had left off what we were doing, or speaking about.

We were both vividly lucid, so there is no doubt, or confirmation needed. It was pretty much the same, as when we were together while physically awake.

Then there is seeing each other, while both being lucid.
I had this happen the other night, but I do frequently, with certain people.

This person I know, he is in India, and we do not get to physically see each other often. But I had wondered how he was, and then I found myself on a dock. So I jumped into the darkish green very deep water between the docks...and was swimming there.

It became where I was swimming down a street I did not know, and I saw him there with someone I did not know...and this other was trying to trade a car with him, for something I could see clear.

So I wrote him, and told him...and he wrote back, and said that he had dreamt also, of seeing me swimming down the street, just as this guy was trying to trade a car, for his_____.

That, was seeing each other, but not quite a shared lucid. In the sense that we did not interact, did not speak with each other, being clearly AWARE that we were, just as if being here. Although we were aware of seeing each other, and knew it was not just an image the other was not noticing.

There is another subtle shift, which is stepping into someone elses dream. I did that With RavenKnight's dream one time...but that is not quite shared either, because she could not even see me, yet I was very consciously stepping into her dream. Or into her, depending on how that is seen. It is a little bit different then just seeing from her perspective, as Nomad put it.

If they did not delete it, it is in her DJ, around page 23 or so. Her cat apparently noticed me, and there are other things she mentioned, which I know Nomad would have noticed.
But that, stepping into other peoples dreams...it can be done anytime. They do not even need to be aware of it, but I would not do that unless they asked me to dream with them. I prefer to see who I would be sharing dreams with.

Another subtle shift, is placing something into anothers dream. Which I did with Mosh, but they all got upset about that, and deleted the posts on that, and gave my boyfriend and I bann warnings...so now it cannot be seen.

I had put something onto Mosh, something sort of special to me. But in his vision, how he saw it, was mixed in with his fears of something. Anyhow, they killed it, what I left.

There are many many other subtle differences, with interacting with dreaming, and others in dreams.

No one taught me how to do these things, and when the friend and I who I first described began to meet, it was a surprise. We didn't know other people who knew or did anything with dreams. So yes, it can just happen, and it does.

But we were close, so there was an opening there, for us to meet that way.

I am not interested in meeting others here, in dreams.

I just felt to mention a few of the different ways, the subtle shifts...because I have not heard anyone speaking about them yet. I like to notice the very subtle movements.

The coolest shared lucid dream accounts I've ever heard of are the ones from the early days of the Monroe Institute. Those guys were able to talk while dreaming, so they would record accounts of what they were seeing and doing, realtime. There was some very cool stuff, where multiple people were talking about the same stuff simultaneously.

I always thought it would be cool to be able to maintain enough awareness of your waking body to be able to interact with people in the waking world while you were still asleep enough to be dreaming. It is very difficult to stay in that state for more than a few seconds.

That sounds contradictory, as I had noticed this other quote from you.
I've never heard a reliable account of it happening, I see no reason why it would be possible, but I keep trying anyways

It's probably a case of DCs being DCs. I've had a few lucid dreams where I just go with the dream-logic that's explained to me, while the DCs run around screaming about how science is broken. (ie: I act like a DC, and they act like Alice in Wonderland.)

You can't know for sure, of course, but chances are this all happened in your mind and yours alone.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.
