      A not-so-vivid dream involving me on the computer. I only remember a very small portion of it - what was on the screen. I don't even remember where I was, or what kind of computer I was using. Maybe I could only see the screen in the dream and nothing else?

      The computer screen was set to Dreamviews. I was on a thread page, and while I cannot remember the title, I had one of my own posts in the center of the screen. It looked relatively normal; the user titles and info was on the left, and the post content was on the right. My signature was missing, though, and I don't even know what was written in the comment section of my post. I had my attention on my username to the left of the post. The staff had surprised me by making me a Moderator on Dreamviews, and I was looking at my username, seeing if the processing of the change from Dream Guide to Moderator was complete. Apparently it wasn't an instantaneous change.

      If someone is a Dream Guide, their username is green. If they are a Moderator, their username is blue. To indicate my account was still in the middle of processing its new status as Moderator, only two letters in my username were blue. The other letters were still green. More letters were supposed to become blue as time elapsed. Essentially, it looked like this:

    2. The Principal is Visiting

      This week at school, I was using the school computers to make a powerpoint presentation for my Chemistry class. I finished a few of the slides on Monday and saved the file. Then I opened up the file on another computer and finished the rest of the presentation. When I went to present it yesterday for class, instead of giving me the finished version of the file, it gave me the version with only the first few slides. I didn't know how this happened and even now I don't know. This must have been the reason for the following dream.

      A very short dream. I was my room, sitting on a plush, red, cube-shaped chair at my desk. The desk was fairly deep, black-stained wood, with metal handles for the two drawers on the left-hand side. My silver macbook pro was sitting on the center of the desk, and my printer was on the back left corner. Unlike in real life, there were no posters on the beige walls where the desk was positioned. There was no lamp, or photos... It was empty. There was nothing on the floor, either. The lighting in the room was a bit dim and moody.

      I turned to the left, facing the door to my room. I expected the principal of my school to walk in at any moment. However, she was already in the room; she was sitting on a regular fold-out plastic and metal chair.

      "Finally, you're here," I told her, completely ignoring how I'd been waiting for her to arrive despite the fact she was already in my bedroom. "I've been having problems with my files at school. You have to call the I.T. guys to come over here and see what the problem is."

      That's all I remember.

    3. Photos on the Computer

      I seem to be more motivated to record my dreams when I'm in school. Holidays and weekends, less so.
      Last night, I dreamed that I was on a balcony, overlooking some sort of Caribbean-style ocean, and the time appeared to be twilight. The ocean water was mint green and blue, getting darker as it radiated out towards the horizon. I knew the balcony was right where the ocean water hit the beach; if I were to look down, I would see the sand.

      There was a square night table, probably only a foot high at most, which was made out of light wood, like oak. It wasn't polished and the edges were still sharp as if it hadn't been sanded down. It was basically slabs of wood that were shaped like a small table, but in my mind (at the time, anyways) it was normal. There was one large drawer in the front of it with a basic round handle, also made of unpolished wood. I pulled it out and saw a closed laptop. It was black with thin, white rubber grips on the sides, and a silver top. There was no logo on top, so I don't know what brand or type of laptop it was.

      I put it on the short table, ignoring the fact that even though the drawer was still way open, I was sitting right in front of the table as if nothing was there. I didn't close the drawer at all, but instead just sat in front of the table and opened the laptop lid. There was no sliding mechanism; I just pulled it open, and immediately it opened to an iPhoto-like program, which definitely had an Apple-like air to it. The background was dark gray, and there was a cover flow sort of picture arrangement. At that moment, my mother had just appeared beside me, so I nudged over and let her look through them.

      She clicked on one photo which enlarged it, and brought the cover flow to the bottom of the screen, making it smaller. It was a picture of her ex-boyfriend.

      "Look!" she said, somewhat excited.

      "Mom," I told her sternly. My mom's ex-boyfriend was an abusive jerk, and I knew this even in the dream.

      She moved onto the next photograph, this time one with the two of them together, making funny faces.

      "Mom! I don't want you looking through these fucking pictures of him on the computer." The word choice sounded very controlling, but it didn't occur to me in the dream that there was anything wrong with it.

      She clicked on another photo, and I didn't get too good of a look at it; I simply looked at her again and pushed her a bit. "Mom! Did you hear what I fucking said? Delete them!"

    4. Laboratory and the Login Screen

      This was a long dream; I know other things happened, but I honestly can't recall what necessarily happened! And it's too bad I can't remember some of the smaller details, such as exactly what the names on the computer screen said.

      I was in the laundry room, located in my basement. You know. It's that back room that has the washing machine and dryer, as well as other crap from around the house. The room was about fourteen feet wide by twenty feet long, and had cold concrete flooring that was painted pale, pale blue. Some of it was chipping off. There were large random segments of cut, flat Berber carpet (blue in color) around the floor, supposedly just for comfort as one would walk into the room. On the right was the washing machine, and right next to it was the dryer. They were both white and shiny. In the back half of the room, past the washing machine and dryer, was a wall dividing up the room. On the left, once you'd get to the wall, was a door. To the right of the wall, on the back end of the right side of the room, was a large white horizontal freezer.

      I was looking to get someone to see my laboratory. No one was following me, but I was acting as if someone was. It's fairly difficult to explain. I went to the left side and opened the door, expecting a laboratory to be behind it. There was a small room with single squares of toilet paper neatly placed all over the walls. I laughed because of this and became lucid.

      I looked around the lab and saw a long, all-steel desk against the wall with a black widescreen computer on it. There was no chair in front of it, so I was standing. I was lucid so, just for laughs, I decided to turn the computer on.

      I imagined it was simply in "sleep" mode, and then pressed a round silver button in the lower right-hand part of the monitor, like many computers have. To the left of it were smaller, black buttons. The screen turned on almost immediately and I felt almost enlightened by it. Maybe it's because I've never used a computer in lucid dreams before, but I just happened to have easy access to one this time. I was very lucid, probably at 8/10 lucidity, but I didn't think of what my dream goals were or what else I could do. After turning the computer on, the first thing that appeared was the windows login screen.



      There were four or five different names on the right side of the Windows logo, like a regular computer would have. However, the text of the account names was a bit larger, and in yellow. The names were also longer, at least ten characters each, some with underscores and random uppercase letters or numbers. I laughed once again, because most of them made no sense, and also because the computer actually worked properly. At least, from what I did with it so far. It was pretty awesome.

    5. Loaf in the Hotel, Computer Files

      This was my first dream with a DV member in it.
      I was in a hotel room. This hotel had high ceilings, at least five or six feet higher than an average ceiling. The room I was in consisted of a flat dark maroon carpet, and beige walls. The door that connected the room to the hallway was centered in the wall, not to the side. On the opposite side of the room were two tall, skinny windows that each had a brown wooden border around them. On either side of the two windows were a bed, and both beds had red duvets and a brown frame, which looked a little old-fashioned. The headboards weren't solid, but instead they were an arc with round carved columns below it.

      There was a mother, a father, and a young girl (probably around the age of three) in the mother's lap. They were in between the two beds, leaning up against them. They were asleep, and then I turned around to see Loaf behind me. He was wearing a pale red sweater (yes, more red), and acting as if it were cold in the room, placing his hands in his jean pockets. All I did was say, "hey," and then left the room. I did this by turning to the right, and, on the wall adjacent to the main door, was a hallway. This darkly-lit hallway was short, only a few feet long, but it led to another room. I walked through and entered the new room; it was half the size of the one I'd left, and only had one bed with the same red duvet.

      I looked at the bed for a while and then heard someone walking towards me. I spun around to see my sister in a bath towel; apparently she was completely surprised that I was in the room. "Sorry!" I exclaimed, and the dream skipped to a new setting.

      I was in my basement. My basement, in the dream, consisted of a light gray Berber carpet and was pretty large. There was an entertainment center but I paid little attention to it, because I was sitting on a swivel chair, at a computer desk, and looking at the computer screen. It was solid blue at first, the backlight making it appear brighter, and then my account popped up on the screen. There was a folder opened up, windows-style because that was my operating system, and the files were listed alphabetically in the same typefont and size they'd be in real life. I saw that there were a few of my own files, but most of them were titled something like the following:

      I distinctly recall seeing the phrase "Best Buy" in the file names, as well as other real companies, but I can't remember those. I deleted the files and then closed the folder. When I got the feeling that they weren't completely deleted, I opened it up again with a single click of the mouse in the middle of the screen. There was now a sidebar on the right-hand side, along with all the files I'd just deleted, back in the folder. On the sidebar, there was a screened-out folder icon and a file name centered below it. Underneath that, it read something like "do you wish to permanently delete this file?"

      I clicked "yes", because that was the only option.

    6. Debt

      I have to stop going to bed so late, my recall is suffering...

      In this dream, I was on a computer. I was sitting in a chair inside some form of wooden cabin sunroom, and I was working on a website. The page looked normal, but there was a big fat bar at the bottom, like the status bar in Internet Explorer but thicker and had a number in the lower left corner. It was currently at "0.00", probably gauging money or something.

      I closed the page I was working on, and the number changed to "-44.00", as if I were in debt for closing the page! I looked away to get something, and the number changed once more, becoming somewhere in the -200's. I remember flipping out because I didn't have the money to pay, and my mom would be so mad at me if she were to find out. What would I do?

    7. Drugs and a Movie

      My parents. I tend to have dreams where I'm at their houses, or when I'm at one we used to live in. This was the situation in this dream; my dad used to live in an apartment.

      The apartment had all beige walls. When you walked in, you'd be in a little area where you could take your shoes off and put them in a closet with wooden sliding doors, which was right in front of you. You turn to the right, and there's an ottoman. Keep going, two or three feet, and there's the open space of the living room, the dining room, and the study area. The dining room comes first; it's a basic round maple wood table with four chairs spaced evenly around it. Behind that, there's the study, with an L-shaped desk. Then, turn to the left, and there's a little 'movie area', with a flat screen TV and two couches. One is at a 90 degree angle to the TV, while the other one is directly in front. The couches are dark brown leather.

      This is where the dream began. It was night time; my dad was on the couch in front of the TV, I was standing beside him, and we were about to watch a movie. He hands me a movie and I look at it.

      "The Illusionist? I just watched this a few days ago! But I'll watch it anyways."

      I sat down beside him on the couch.

      That was true; I had actually watched the movie in real life less than a week ago. When I woke up, I was surprised a real movie was be in my dreams. Anyways, that's beside the point.

      He put the DVD in, and the disc menu looked almost exactly like the real thing. Although I cannot remember exactly what was in it, my father handed me a navy, rectangular box. It may have been some form of candy, or chocolate. I also remember opening it and exclaiming that I liked this "type" of food.

      The dream skipped, and I was now at the computer desk on a balcony. The floor of the balcony was tan marble tile, which actually looked very pretty, and the walls were all large square glass panels, separated by thin lines of silver structure. The desk faced out towards the window, which was looking out at a next-door apartment building. I was making graphics on the computer; game sprites, to be exact. I was making a character for an upcoming video game I was creating, which looked very intricate and detailed, even though I could never really have designed something like it. The sprite was around 50x50 pixels, was salmon-colored, and had yellow stripes. It looked almost like a fluffy hedgehog, of some sort. That's when I heard my dad coming; whenever I hear my parents coming, I always seem to close what I'm doing on the computer, no matter how innocent it may be (not like I do anything else). My dad walked in and I was just able to close the computer window with the sprite on it.

      He looked at me and asked "what are you doing?" fairly suspiciously.

      I was surprised by his reaction.

      I told him that I was creating sprites, but this only made him more suspicious. He asked me what sprites were, and before I could reply, he asked if they're a type of drug. I replied that they aren't, it's a type of computer graphic, but he began yelling and saying to never do that again.
