    1. Buying a GM Product?!

I am negotiating a used vehicle purchase from the farmer up the road from my house. He is selling a friend's work van, a GMC cargo van with ladder racks and utility shelves inside. He also has an older Ford 4x4 pickup for sale, but for some reason the van seems more interesting.

He insists that I ride with him to plot out a test-drive path through one of his fields. I get into a small 4x4 pickup with him and we ride off into a field. He blasts through a relatively flat field and says, “This can be a highway test drive.” When we get to the end of the field, he drives up over a couple of dirt hills, then turns around and heads for a large dirt mound. We follow a well carved trail over the mound and through several mud holes. As we're climbing a steep slope at a lateral angle, he says, “This can be the off-road testing area.”

Once we get back to the van, I look it over closely. There are large adhesive signs on the sides that peel off with little effort. I get into the driver seat and look at the dashboard. It has a huge array of control knobs and dials, much like an airplane cockpit. I get out, thinking that this thing is way more complicated that it needs to be. I shut the driver door and walk around to the passenger side. When I open the door, the dashboard has the standard controls and a regular steering wheel on it. I say to myself, “That's more like it...” just before waking up.

After waking, I am a bit mad that I didn't notice the sign. Also, I would NEVER buy or own a GM or Chevrolet product.
    2. Offroading / Smoking a Doobie

I am driving around with a friend through the outskirts of the city. We pull into an abandoned industrial lot to see if there are any good places to go offroading. My friend says, “I don't think we should be driving around in here.” I reply with a question, “Would you like to get out and walk?” He replies, “No.”

On the right side are a couple of hills with lots of trails going up and down them. On the left is a line of trees and straight ahead is a muddy area. I look at the hills and the mud pit for a while, deciding which I want to hit first. As I think, I reach down and engage the transfer case into 4x4 mode. My friends puts on his seat belt and grabs the oh-shit handle with a nervous look on his face. I back up to get a running start, then hit the mud hole as fast as I can. The truck sinks into the mud quite a bit, but I am able to pull through easily. I turn around and drive through the mud again while doing some donuts in the middle of the pit.

My friend says, “Let's pull over by the trees and fire up a doobie.” I look over at him and see that he is holding a large doobie and a lighter. I drive over by the trees, then up and around the mid pit to the top end of the lot. The top of the lot connects to one of the city streets and the back sides of several buildings line the edge of the lot. We stop right in the middle of the lot and light up the doobie. He takes the first couple hits, then I take a couple. It tastes really good and I immediately get high as hell.

I pass on the second round, saying, “I'll skip this one. I don't want to get so high that I forget how to get out of here.” He looks at me and says, “Snausages.” I give him a puzzled look, then start up the truck and drive off. As I drive, he keeps laughing and pointing at things outside. I look at him and ask, “Your eyes look funny, are you high?” He just laughs again.
