Whoa! That's a very good one! Congrats on the lds! :bravo:

As I as was reading this I saw a chain of brilliantly executed steps. Very quick and accurate thinking and you got that pyramid and when I read about the zoom I was like, man you're so good thinking on your feet. This dream has got me super excited.

Excellent job getting out of the void by expecting what should actually be there.

Edit: And your drawing skills are amazing!!!

You're right, it is amazing! We're all master architects/musicians/landscape painters in our dreams, yet so few of us can do these things at an expert level in waking life. This hints at tremendous untapped creative potential... and at just how hard it is for ideas to make the leap between our imaginations and the waking world.

That's the real gift that creative people have... to be able to tap fearlessly into that creative energy and then somehow build the skills necessary to turn it into a physical reality of some form that others can share and experience.

Ha! Nice close call! And "dusting". The dreaming brain seems to always be there with a ready excuse for everything!

Thanks for the link and sorry for the late reply on this one. It's really amazing how much rendering our brain/mind can do. If you think that all the buildings as well as living things etc all follow an enormous amount of often complex laws and rules. I am no architect, yet my mind constructs perfect and often so elaborate buildings.

Also, this information is so easily absorbed into the subcon which later could randomly reproduce it in such detail. Like if you ask me to imagine a famous person and paint them, even if I had the best skills, I still need to look at a picture of that person to get the right proportions, but the sleepying mind can easily present you with the end result especially in non-lds, where you are not trying to influence the process.

Perhaps because our rational part/decision making of brain is not functioning as much, more resources are allocated to other areas like the ones for visual and musical (i.e. right brain) experiences which seem to receive a boost.

By the way, I had a close call today. Someone was throwing stuffed toys from a tall block. I was below and caught a stuffed bear, they continued throwing toys and I casually mentioned that it looks like a dream and now is a good time to RC. Unfortunately, my reasoning continued that perhaps they were just dusting...

CL you are the man and I really learn from your input! No failings, just steps towards a new goal or technique! I was definitely lamenting myself getting behind, but yeah I did also want you to check mine out as I always get something out of that process that allows me to advance further. So thank you! I even get those tips in other member's DJ's that you comment on, though I find myself able to check them less and less.

Thanks fogelbise! Cool, man, congratulations! I appreciate the pointer because it sometimes takes me a while to get properly caught up.

Ha ha, yeah, the subconscious is great at picking a scenario of maximum embarrassment/distress.

Definitely try the picture teleport idea! I think that it's a great technique. Ignore any of the failings I demonstrated in my attempt. =)

Ooh, good observation about the sand! I hadn't even considered the commonality until you said something. I need tips like this with... one month left and 5 tasks to go!

And yeah, the TV discussion puts this in a whole new light! I wish I could say that I was making clever plans along these lines, but my mind was embarrassingly empty at that point in the dream.

I remember the Great Barrier Reef Task of the Year. I walk around the master bedroom a bit, trying to figure out whether there’s anything here I can use as an easy bridge to the Great Barrier Reef.

I wind up standing in front of our closed television cabinet, staring.
I just read this one and it reminds me of our TV discussion from couple of days ago.

The idea with the swimming is pretty cool too. You seem quite good at getting sand around you and the sand element is present in three Totys.

Nice dream! I love all those beautiful scenes that our dreams offer us.

Good job resisting the red temptation.

I somehow missed your journal entry as I'm getting behind keeping up on DV...very cool LD! You always give me ideas of things to try out...the latest I had another threesome and it was quite exciting. Sex is meant to be enjoyed so I tell myself no shame but my subconscious may have had another idea afterwards. I will have to also try the video/picture teleport one of these days...so many things to try!

@NyxCC - Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the melatonin-inspired wackiness of all that. The handheld was just the perfect device to encounter after our discussions about this over the last few days. I didn't handle it quite as expertly as I'd have liked, but still, really cool experience.

Just like you, I was very impressed with how vivid the scene was on this little device. The brain (at least in this case) rendered it just like a portal or window into another part of the world. I can just imagine the same thing with your Greece dream (which sounds amazing BTW.) It is great stuff! Thanks for the ideas.

@Highlander - Thanks! Crazy dreams and no LD50... I'll definitely be keeping melatonin in the rotation.

      Ahhhh! Awesome dream, congratulations!

I love it from the very beginning to the end. Those melatonin tunnels and the mel world were so cool. And that handheld device! Good job remembering and trying it out!

Very interesting how you got that vivid scene in the device too. Btw, I had a non-ld in my old place where I spent some time watching some sort of movie on my iPad about Greece that kind if looked like Egypt desert. Nothing unusual there, but what left an impression was how bright the colors on the screen were, very HD. So, now when I read about the deer and the stream, I can almost feel that vividness. It's amazing how high quality some dream elements can get.

Once again, very pleasurable read! Makes me think about having some melatonin too.

Also, great idea from Xanous about getting in the scene using WILD methods.

Cool dream. Maybe next time try putting a hand or foot in and make some "physical" contact with the scenery.
Thanks man! I agree, this sounds like a great idea. That's exactly how I "enter" hypnagogic imagery and half-dreams from a WILD so it makes perfect sense.

I think that in part I was distracted by the fact that I thought my hands were holding the edge of the device. Because I bought into this, it just didn't occur to me to try reaching in with my hands! Think, CL, think!

That's right, I remember now how much you did with flashcards! Considering how consistently you remember Tasks of the Year (and TotM), I think you are on to something. Not sure how to square flashcard-making with my innate laziness is the only problem. Your just really do well with your memory in general, which is such a help in LDing.
The app I'm using right now for lazy people who are addicted to clicking is Flashcards deluxe by orangeandapple. The good thing is you can add pics, which is what I really like. There are lots of flashcards out there that you can try out. Also, I think that my overall wakefulness following a proper and somewhat insomniac wbtb may be contributing to a more focused ld state. In early lds I don't recall or actually seem to care so much about tasks. Yet, early lds have more potential for self exploration and distant memory recall because you are deeper into your subcon.

Cool dream! Very interesting that you have a world map irl, and exactly that map turned into a mural from the Journey game. If that's not an indicator that you have this portal right there in your home!
Thanks! And you know, I can't believe it, but this idea never occurred to me. If I'm in that room, that painting should be there, and now I've seen it be a portal before. Why can't it be one again, right? Great idea, Nyx...

Similarly, I happen to have another related idea about quickly getting to desired locations - the TV. I guess it should be quite easy to find or summon one and then watch the scene of a movie about TOTY, gladiator, etc. I think it should be easier to either zoom in or slowly phase in the scene, since there's no interuption of visual input unlike phasing though walls.
Yeah this seems like a great idea because it's such a natural way for your mind to imagine a whole new scene taking shape right before your eyes. We're conditioned throughout our lives to see pictures form from out of nowhere on a television screen, images of places around the world, fantastical scenes, anything we could imagine. The mind should offer no resistance at all to the idea of images taking shape from our of nothing on a television!

Sometimes I think about dream issues during the day and if I am lucky in the dream and the issue happens again I might by chance recall the solution. I guess another way to solve this would be with flashcards or something. Endless flashcards, endless ideas...lol!

      To more awesome lds!
Yes! They're really quite an amazing part of the dreamscape. So far I'm not sure when they pop up... if it's down to randomness, necessity, or what it is. I imagine that with some practice we'll be able to summon them, particularly when they have names, become familiar, etc. The fact that the smart DCs are smarter than I am in dreams makes them not only cool but useful. Perhaps this is how I start making better decisions in my lucids.

@PennyRoyal (!!) - Hey man, it's great to see you around again! I hope life and dreaming have been treating you well!

And exactly... victory or no, I picked up some great tools in this dream! Let's hope I remember to use them.

I'm going to butt in here but I did that with the TV once. It wasn't planned but more on the fly. Its very possible and a great idea!
Cool! Your input is very welcome, Xanous! I love to hear about ideas and experiences you guys have. We are still on the lookout for a few easy and reliable teleports/scene change methods.
