... a pick-up truck pulls alongside me, rusty red just like the last one. For some reason I think that this is a different truck.

The truck's being driven by an attractive red-haired woman in her early 40s and a younger woman (blonde, mid-20s) is sitting in the passenger seat. The younger woman beckons me toward the truck. I climb into the cab of the truck and immediately she kisses me.
I can see why it is called a 'pick-up' truck!

      Cool lucid BTW.

@Highlander - Thanks, Highlander, I'm glad that the vividness came through in the description! The scene offered a lot of interesting characters and scenery, which helped with drawing me in. Made it hard to focus on goals, of course, but this can still be a very nice trade!

@Nyx - Thanks, I think my cap size is 300mg. Great info, and yeah I completely agree on keeping SJW totally separate from any of the serotonergics like 5-htp. Serotonin should always be managed very carefully!

I totally agree on teleport cheats! I need and welcome all the help I can get. Time may be getting tight but we've still got like, what, 80ish days to get this done? No problem. I'm totally frosty. See? Watch me...

      Good luck!!

Oh that reminds me! I've been meaning to ask you what dosages worked best for you with St. Johns Wort. I tried a single cap before bed one night and had a nice night of dreaming but I was curious what level had generally given you the best results.
I've only taken 450 mg which is my cap size. How much did you take? By the way, I have recently observed that melatonin, HTP and SJW taken by themselves won't get me lds anymore but instead make me quite sleepy. This wasn't the case before when I could ld only on mel or htp. No idea why is that.

For best results, I would throw some awareness enhancing supps in the combo and extend the wbtb if I feel sleepier. I think for SJW, I primarily added B6 pre bed, menthol and caffeine wbtb. Talking about B6 adding some sleep enhancers (like the above 3 or valerian pre bed) reduces the amout of wakefulness I would get if relying solely on B6.

I guess you would be taking this the slow way and gradually play with any combos. As Aly said, just don't mix with melatonin or htp, and I think it can be a nice substitute for htp in the htp combos.

Yeah, I was at a loss as to how to deal with all of Conan's "free will"! The only other thing I can think to do is next time speak to the DC as if we already have an agreement and "let's get started" rather than saying it like a suggestion.
That's a great idea. Don't hesitate to con those DCs, they can be so shy or stubborn and we've got work to do!

I'm looking forward to hearing how your hand idea works! Were you thinking of using your hands to block part of your vision? I used mine to once block all of my vision for a teleport. I teleported... but to a completely random spot. Just make sure you imagine the right spot and you should do better than I did. =)
Yes, exactly. Cool you already tried it! That tech sounds promising and it's high time we learn some teleport cheats to help us with TOTY. I am looking forward to see how those go for you as well.

I like how you got beyond the void; the woman and how the room scene came into focus.

I managed to visualise the scenario whilst reading from your fluent description.

Heh heh, thank you, Nyx! I love when I get story-driven dream content like that, even when the story is a bit weird.

Ha! Now that you mention it, I guess this was a more fun version of the famous "Full Xanous" stabilization technique. In all seriousness, it actually works really well! I've seen you have success with it in a dream or two and it certainly worked for me here. The only downside is that it's potentially very distracting!

Congrats on the ld, CL! Your dreams always start with such thrilling stories, feels like I am watching a movie trailer.

After perhaps 20 seconds of this, I get a vague image of a dark-haired woman in her late 30s trying to speak to me. I kiss her, partly to draw myself into the scene and partly because it seems like a fun thing to do.

Really cool idea to start a creative project with your friend. Too bad he was so soberly minded. It's also amazing how much free will this DC had. I am even starting to suspect you might have talked to your friend for real, who knows?

Fantastic on the spot thinking with the turban and the satin blanket! In the last few days, I was contemplating about using my hands the same way. Still need more lds to properly try it.

I could feel that feeling that I have right before transitioning into the dream on the few regular WILDS I have done and my wife moved. I was quite sure that it wasn't HH's but tried to convince myself it was and attempted to float. I assume it was her moving IWL since I felt quite awake by then...how could it be that she had such "great" timing...Anyway, though it was nothing like an LD, I did turn it into a decent visualization session!

Awesome, fogelbise, hope you wound up catching a great LD last night! Yeah, the possibility of a good lucid dream is the single best motivator for getting to bed that I've got. Starting lucid dreaming wound up turning my sleeping habits around!

Cool dream!! This motivates me to give it a go tonight despite a worknight...need to get to bed I guess. Geez, I love the beautiful dream ladies that seem to frequent both of our dreamworlds!

@fogelbise - Not novice at all! I actually have a good number of what I call "micro-lucids" where I wake up almost immediately. (Presumably from excitement?) I don't journal them, but they happen pretty regularly.

@NyxCC - Thanks! Yeah, I was glad that the car phase worked okay. That was kind of a risky thing to use as a reality check... I'm glad I didn't give up and conclude that this must be really happening!

Ha ha... I'll have to incubate a giant potato dream and see what the ol subC does with it.

Congrats on the ld and TOTM! Very creative way to combine the spell casting with teleportation! The car phase was awesome too!

Really good job getting back into the dream from that half-void state.

By the way, I misread giant potholes for giant potatoes at first, wondering how the dream was going to develop.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels that they get too excited! But my case is worse it seems, makes me feel novice. Maybe my trick is to save all the rush of excitement until I wake up! I will have to try that. Got to celebrate at some point, it is just too exciting not to!

It's tough to do when it's not a habit! That's where I am right now. In most dreams I just get too excited and don't remember to do it. But I'm really going to try to give it another try. When I was taking that "setup time" at the beginning, it paid off with some very vivid LDs. In fact, the last time I finished a Task of the Year piece was a dream where I really took some time at the beginning to get my head right.

Time to teach myself to do this regularly.

Exactly! That is exactly what I need to do, thank you! You obviously have it way more down than me. I need to kind of just stop and take time to experience where I am, before I speed off...at least some of the time. I did do that recently stopped looked up at the house noticing the details but mostly went back to my normal knee-jerk ways most recently.

Thanks, you're right, still very cool! My only regret on this one was taking the time to fret about whether it might fall apart on me, which seemed to bring on the collapse! Ah well, to some degree my mind sort of does what it wants in dreams unless I give it something shiny to play with. =)

What I want to try more of in the near future is to take time at the onset of lucidity to just really enjoy the scene for a bit, take things a bit slow, get really hooked in, and act like I've got all the time in the world. The idea is to bring vividness up and get into the mindset that this dream is where I'm going to be for a while and I'm going to put in some serious work while I'm here.

Time will tell whether this actually works because my instinct is to just run out, start flying around, and just playing!

Still very cool!!..despite the apparent frustration/head banging emoticon at the end. It is kind of weird...I am going on a road trip this weekend and we could go on a highway 50 (not 50mph or kmh) and I have been to New Zealand (One of the most beautiful countries anywhere!). I know...coincidences, but they stood out to me. I am torn between doing more stabilizing in my dreams or just taking off and doing what I want to...I probably need something in between. Before when I would think or try to stabilize, my dreams would fade, lately they do anyway so I feel I should do something...then again I am still waking up with that exhilarating feeling and enjoying every lucid moment, however short. I guess it will just take time.

I think the only time I've interacted with a dc (where I talked and they talked) was in my 3rd lucid dream. I was walking around my house wondering if I was dreaming. I then found my mom sitting on the couch and asked her "Is this a dream?" She then looked at me in a very serious manner ,as if offended, and replied "No of course this is not a dream! I didn't believe her, so I went over to my sister's room and asked her "am I dreaming?" and she just shrugged. I don't remember what happened afterwards, but what I do remember is smacking my self the moment I woke out for completely forgetting about reality checks throughout the dream!
