    Non-Lucid Semi-Lucid | Lucid Daydream Lucid

I wasn't originally planning to write anything here, but I wanna brag about my name
    1. First and foremost, "Meiseki" (明晰) means "lucid" in Japanese.
    2. But written as 冥関, it can mean sooo much more (if you stretch it). "Invisible barrier," "divine gate," "underworld," "link between life and death," "secret connection," et cetera. This spelling is my favorite.
    3. Found another one, 迷関! Put it into Google Translate/DeepL and it means "labyrinth," "stalemate," and "stumbling block."

MeiSEKAI is a pun on that, since "sekai" (世界) means world. It's also a nice parallel to the realms in ProSeka, a game I like. But that's not all:
    1. Written as 冥世界, it really does mean underworld/netherworld, though the "世" is left out.
    2. And as 名世界, it can mean "famous world" or "great world."

    Kanji is pretty cool, huh?

    1. Comp Night 9 - Gay Android Boy

      by , 01-15-2024 at 10:40 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Did decent reality checks and meditated briefly before bed at 11:30.

      Dream #1 (Non-Lucid):
An android boy was sent to play piano with a (music) band of human children. They grew up together and he gradually learned how to feel. He loved one boy in particular and they were pretty gay, holding hands all the time and constantly playing duets.

Since he was one of the more successful androids, others, called his “children,” would be tasked to follow him around and observe his behavior.

One day Android Boy covered himself and the rest of the band in special marker ink, which only showed up in faint blue smudges except under a spotlight, under which it turned pitch black. The only thing he didn’t cover were the human boy’s eyes.

He thought it could be easily washed off, and for him that was the case. He just had to jump in the ocean and do a little scrubbing. But his artificial skin was made up of slightly different material than the real thing, so his friends couldn’t get it off. They’d turn into shadows under spotlights for the rest of their lives.

Seeing what he’d done, Android Boy tried to swim into a hole in the wall to “erase himself.” He cried that he was the one who had inserted himself where he didn’t belong, using the sharpie to scribble his face out in a picture they’d all taken together. Human Boy tried to hold him back, saying that he didn’t care about some stupid marks, but the wall was opening up to consume him.
Then I woke up… why, when it was just getting good?!

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid):
An older brother had to leave his younger brother on an island. The younger sent him $1,000 a year so he could one day rescue him, but somehow he got to the mainland himself and discovered that his brother had forgotten all about him. He was using the money on cheap pleasures and drugs.

      Dream #3 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
A mad scientist was showing people something disturbing… I can’t quite remember what.

    2. Avoiding Lucidity

      by , 07-16-2023 at 11:14 PM (MeiSEKAI)
This was my last dream of the night. A couple dream characters and I were fleeing from an evil therapist, stuck on a dead-end bridge and staring into the void. I turned around and faced one of them, a man with tan skin and bright green eyes, holding my hands up.

"It's okay guys, no need to worry, I'll just make a wormhole," I assured them. "Then we can fly through it and we'll be safe."

They voiced their doubts, but I shut them down.
Suddenly a thought popped into my head: Wait a minute, the last time I flew was in a dream... doesn't that mean this is also a dream? I almost performed a reality check but stopped myself. The dream was so vivid and I was enjoying the plot. (I had managed to do a DEID from the previous dream after being disappointed over how short it was. I didn't want to risk lucidity destabilizing anything, even if it was due to my own schema.) So I deliberately tried to suppress that awareness.

It mostly worked, but then I remembered the TotS task to find your own forgotten DJ entries and wanted to try it. As I unfolded the wormhole (it was like a collapsible tunnel) I imagined it leading to my WL dream journal. Unfortunately, while flying through I fell into the void and
      completely lost lucidity.

I guess I'll add it to my LD count since it's enough to count as semi-lucid, but ugh, what a wasted opportunity. The dream lasted for quite a while afterward.
    3. A Gust of Wind

      by , 06-29-2023 at 11:30 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Another short semi-lucid, this one a bit more fun than the last. It was my third dream of the night, and during WBTB I tried to mentally explain to someone why I wanted to become lucid, as per Harlequin's suggestion. I thought, Well, you see, lucidity is just cool... I mean, you can do so many things that you can't in waking life... why wouldn't you want that? I think I have a good chance of becoming lucid in this next dream, you'll see, I can feel it.

Yeah, I'm not too good at it Did SSILD afterward and went to sleep at 4:30. (Forgot the entire beginning of the dream, but it started out non-lucid, so it wasn't a WILD.)

First thing I remember is walking down a path by the lake with my brothers and mom. All of us have been attempting dream control for a while, and I've failed to fly multiple times.

I run ahead of them and for no real reason flop down in a patch of grass. A specific type of anticipation comes over me, like I need to concentrate, yet at the same time avoid focusing too hard on what's happening. Suddenly a gust of wind pushes me into a sitting position, and with minimal effort, I begin to hover in the air.

A grin spreads across my face and I unsteadily fly higher, cheering and showing off to my familial unit. My brother records me as I spin and flap my arms and make little circles in the air. I land in front of them, and my mom asks how I did it. I tell her about the gust of wind and think to myself that this kind of "external assistance" is typical in dreams.

Later my brothers and I, along with their friends Ethan and Marcus, are lying on a picnic blanket watching the video Z took of me. I apparently do another cool thing at the end, and halfway through Z says impatiently, "Why is it taking so long?"

I wonder why he doesn't just skip ahead,
      and wake up.

You can tell this wasn't a high level of lucidity by my reaction to the flying. I've done it countless times, and it usually comes naturally to me, even in non-lucids. This was closer to role-playing. But still, it was pretty exciting.

    4. Comp Night 13 - Very Sadness

      by , 06-14-2023 at 09:36 PM (MeiSEKAI)
I blame everything on the fact that I spent four hours straight doing my TOK exhibition yesterday Slept at 12 for the same reason.

      Dream #1 (Fragments, Non-Lucid):
      1. Someone saying, "That man will eat anything as long as it's edible."
      2. Someone on Dreamviews screaming, "I am from BOLIVIA! BARCELONA! PERÚ!" Then thinking to themselves, Wait, I'm not from any of those places, what am I saying?

My brother woke me up at 6:27. (My 6:15 alarm didn't go off because it unplugged itself.) Can't believe I slept through the whole night...

Yesterday's dreams. Slept at 11:45, little later than usual, but put myself to sleep by mentally replaying my day. (I can never get past brushing my teeth )

      Dream #1 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
J and I were assassins, and she was a "star ranking" among them. She didn't work well in parties, though, and at some point we were riding on elephants. Woke at 4:00, DJ and WBTB.

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid):
My ex and I were in my house's bathroom. I played a Dazbee song cover for her on my Chromebook. (It doesn't exist IWL but it sounded good.)

"You know, Dazbee always keeps her voice at 11 decibels, for profit, so it's hard to hear her sometimes, but it's fine because she sounds heavenly," I rambled.

In contrast to my words, the song was pretty loud, and it made me self-conscious. I tried to lower the volume but it wasn't helping. Ex walked over and inspected the thumbnail, which was a drawing of Dazbee stylized to match the original song. "Her mouth, nose, and eyes all look the same," she said.

I wasn't sure how to respond to that.

Alarm woke me up at 6:15. This is pretty short for a full dream, but I didn't have the sense that anything else happened. No dragons

    6. Comp Night 9 - I Suppose These Things Happen

      by , 06-10-2023 at 08:46 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Title is a Fight Club reference. Slept at 11:30.

      Dream #1 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
Someone's neck was a lightning bolt. That's it, that's all I remember. Woke up at 4 something and considered writing it down, but somehow convinced myself I didn't need to because I could WILD

      Dream #2 (Fragments, Non-Lucid):
      1. A girl died, and at her funeral, an ant was crawling across the window. One of the attendees kept getting distracted by it, trying to classify its type.
      2. I was in the library talking to my brother.
      3. Forgot to bold one subtitle of my DJ entry but figured it wasn't worth editing for.
      4. A girl, same one that died I believe, saved a gingerbread man from getting hunted down and killed. She died in the process but he (the gingerbread) rewound time and made the floor collapse so all the hunters got washed away. At some point his face had come off and she was holding it in a tube in her hands. As the nonexistent observer, I found it awfully convenient that she was standing in the only spot that didn't collapse.

      ———

Woke up at 7:26 from my dad yelling downstairs. I lay in bed for an hour, unsuccessfully trying to fall asleep. Then I took two sleeping pills but not only did they not work, I didn't get the least bit tired! What a scam... gave up at 9:10.

      by , 06-01-2023 at 08:38 PM (MeiSEKAI)
This lucid was so short I won't even bother writing down the rest of the dream. It was after a semi-successful WILD attempt; I was reading some documents and suddenly thought, Wait a minute, is this a dream? I plugged my nose, breathed in, and immediately woke up, sniffing the air like an idiot

    8. Accidentally On Purpose Woke Myself Up

      by , 05-29-2023 at 12:49 AM (MeiSEKAI)
Failed WILD attempt here. During the transition, I saw Menou (from The Executioner and Her Way of Life) in my ESS classroom killing a little kid and someone else in front of Akari. I was thinking that Akari was morally gray and just supported Menou in anything she did.

At some point Menou held her dagger in a really cool way and I tried to imitate it but kept poking my forearm. I thought, Anime characters are really something else, huh.

I left the classroom and squatted on a carpet stained with the victims' blood. People were whispering about it, so I tried to cover it up with the kid's shoes. I remember thinking, C'mon, these are way too small even for a child, not realistic at all. And they grew in front of my eyes.

I was waiting there for the two to pick me up when a girl named Bethany, hair uncharacteristically in pigtails, walked up to me. She smiled and said, "I came to rescue you."

No, I don't want to socially interact… I thought, and
woke myself up As soon as my eyes opened I was like "oops."

I was only semi-lucid even if it was a WILD transition, plus I never got fully in the dream. So I won't add it to my LD count.
    9. Too Romantic to Be True

      by , 05-22-2023 at 11:16 PM (MeiSEKAI)
A short entry for a short dream.

I was reading Owari no Seraph, and for some background information, MikaxYuu is its most popular ship by far. In this chapter Mika said something that was essentially a confession, and Yuu thought, "Yes! Yes! Yeeeeeeessss!!!" and then they started kissing

I was extremely surprised by the blatantness of it, as it's usually "left up to interpretation" to some degree. In any case, they've certainly never kissed, and it felt way too sudden. Then I realized,
Oh, this must be a dream. There's no other way.

I thought back to the [true] most recent chapter, and sure enough, this scene made no chronological sense. Still, I wanted to take a picture to show people what my dream version of OnS was like. I scrolled back up and saw that the three "Yes"es had changed to "No"s. I was a bit disappointed and tried to consciously switch them back, but it didn't work. When I scrolled back down though, romantic stuff ensued anyway—albeit in a more aggressive manner.

I'm not sure when I woke up, but that's the last thing I remember. I think the reason I've been having a lot of mildly lucid dreams lately is because in real life I often tell myself I'm in a dream without doing anything about it. I should perform my steps (check for false memories, RC, remember goals) each time I think that IWL. If that still doesn't fix the problem, I'll go back to telling myself I will have a lucid dream instead of I'm already in a dream.
