    Unwelcome Houseguests

I had this short lucid dream during a very brief mid-morning nap. Lucid napping is a first for me. I didn't perform at my best in-dream and I allow the dream to end much too soon. Also, I get beat up by a little kid. But hey, lucid is lucid! Always learning.

    Lucid #22: Unwelcome Houseguests

I'm holding hands with my two toddler-age sons, preparing to go outside for a walk. Before we reach the front door of th house, twin boys with curly blonde hair open the door and scurry inside. They look to be about eight years old and are complete strangers to me. This feels strange, and soon I'm lucid.

I decide that I don't want these weird kids running around in my house so I start ushering them out the door. They seem to cheerfully accept getting kicked out so my thoughts turn to lucid goals. I remember that I wanted to do the Task of the Month and replace my head with a pumpkin. But what was the other one? Ah yes, get a vampire, werewolf, or zombie to bite me. Now I remember.

Just as I'm thinking this (and probably because I'm thinking this), the twin on my left suddenly lunges at me and bites me hard on the left pec, right by my armpit. He snarls like a dog, whipping his head back and forth. I'm taken completely by surprise, both by the suddenness of the attack and by how much it actually hurts. I try to shout some kind of command at him but all that comes out is this pathetic yowl.

I blank out for a fraction of a second and my perspective switches to the top of the stairs, looking down at the scene of the attack. I have no dream body and everyone (me, my kids, the twins) is now gone from the scene. My view is turned on its side, as if I were lying down. I try to move, try to RC, but with no body there's not much that I can do.

I imagine that I'm lying here because I passed out and I'm just waking up. This seems to work! I have hands and a body again and I slowly get to me feet. Just then, I hear the sound of my alarm clock and
voluntarily wake up. But when I wake up, it's only been 15 minutes since I laid down! The alarm wasn't anywhere close to going off and I fooled myself into waking up for no reason.

I like it! It sounds like one trippy ass dream. I love how you improvise and believe you had just passed out. I have found expectation to be the best tool. And that surprise attack was awesome! I think you pretty much did the TOTM .. maybe subconsciously but you did it.

Thanks! Yeah, I think my subconscious was trying to hand me something. I just wish that I knew what. Was that kid a werewolf, a vampire, or just a mean little bastard? I have to admit that even though it scared the hell out of me, I appreciate that my subconscious is getting into the Halloween spirit, ha ha...

It's a great lesson in the importance of keeping the mind focused, I think. Idle imaginings turn out not to be so idle during an LD!

Edit: I thought of something else. I learned from OpheliaBlue's handling of the "I'm trapped in blankets!" problem that these things tend to fade if you just ignore them. I probably should have just quit thinking about the little kids if I didn't like them being around. They almost certainly would have vanished on their own if I'd focused on other things.

It's so easy to Monday morning quarterback yourself, especially your dull-witted dream self, who loves to forget important things.

Woah cool dream! And it's very interesting how you fooled yourself into waking up. It'd have been nice if it turned out to be an FA! x) congrats on the lucid!

Do you happen to watch Grimm? I just remebered that scene totally happened at the end of the latest episode.

Thanks Paige!! Yeah, when I jumped out of bed and the alarm clock wasn't going off, I was so confused. Once I figured out that the whole alarm clock thing had been fake, I reality checked, hoping I was still "in there" just like you said. I gotta admit, I was pretty disappointed when that didn't work, ha ha. It was one of those dreams where I needed to stand there for a second afterward and just get everything straight in my head.

Seriously?!? No, I've never watched! My wife watched season 1 but she isn't watching season 2. Is it the episode that Wikipedia says ran on October 12, 2012? If so, I will definitely have to check it out on Hulu!

How similar was the scene? Was it an attack by twin children?? Amazing.

OMG it's our favorite show (besides Walking Dead). My wife and I have followed since the beginning. Yes it was Friday the 12th. I love HULU!

Just sort of similar... Well I might ruin the plot twist but there were two blonde kids in a backyard. Girl and boy. And the they got in a fight and the girl got in trouble by the foster dad. She turned into a "Wessen" and bit his forearm.

Maybe the kid in your dream was a wessen? LOL.

Hey, we watched The Walking Dead season 1 and really liked it! It seemed way too short (which is a good sign.) Season 2 is on Netflix now so it's on our giant list of stuff to watch. We'd watch it late at night and the show's so graphic that I was terrified it'd give me bad dreams but luckily no problem. If my TotM has zombies, it's going to be like The Walking Dead. Not those disgusting "28 Days Later" fast zombies, ha ha... those things are so gross.

I'm not sure why Wife gave up on Grimm. We generally have way more TV than we can watch. We watch a little on weekends and Wife watches while she's lifting, but that's kinda it. This episode I will have to check out though!

Walking Dead season 3 just started. It was pretty good. You know its based off the comics right? If you get a chance, you might can find some volumes at your local library (or by other means online). They are actually a little better than the TV show.

I really only watch those 2 shows religiously. It's hard for me to find anything I really like, but I'm usually online or busy with other stuff anyway.

Sorry I didn't mean to turn your dream journal into a chat session!
