Woah, what a weird and terrifying dream! Sadly, not a lucid one. I haven't been getting enough sleep to have another lucid since my first, thanks to school and stress. Just as a warning, there is some exchange of hurtful remarks and a brawl between a DC and I, so read with caution.
I had powers and so did my friends, and we belonged to a group dedicated to helping people with powers and using our powers for good. My friend Sam and I led the group and mentored the new members. It was a loving little community of acceptance and dedication to making a positive difference in the world.
There was one member of the group, a boy named Liam, who is in my class. He bullied me a lot at my old school, but in my dream I had forgiven him and welcomed him into the group, though he had no noticeable powers. He claimed they were still developing and they would be made known soon. Wanting to trust him, I believed him, and accepted this without a second thought.
Our entire group was waiting for a certain day, which a member with the power to glimpse the future said would be the day we'd have to fight for our way of life. The day came, and I'd made sure all of the members were prepared and safely hidden in our base, while I went out to find the danger. Soon, I came across Liam, and it was just he and I on the top of a skyscraper. He was outside on the day our kind would be attacked, and this set off warning bells in my mind. At this point, I'd realized that he didn't have powers.
"You know," he said, "I'm not one of you."
I didn't reply. Somehow I had known this would happen, though I had hoped it wouldn't.
He was watching me as I began to manipulate matter, making it contort and float in the air. He had never seen me use my powers, as he was a newer member of the group.
"So that's what you can do," he said.
I nodded and let the matter back down.
He was silent for a while.
Finally he whispered, "You disgust me."
"Why is that?" I asked, calmly.
"You're a freak," he replied, glaring at me. "You and all those like you deserve to die."
"If my kind are "freaks", then why were you so eager to join a group of "freaks" like me?" I asked.
He laughed scornfully. "To see what makes you tick. To find your weaknesses, to discover how to defeat you monsters."
"Monsters? I don't think that word fits a group of people dedicated to saving people and doing good."
"I don't care how many people you save," he snapped, his eyes filling with hatred. "You're abominations, and you deserve to die. I won't stop until very last one of you are dead."
"You were the danger to our kind," I said quietly. "Right under our noses the entire time..."
"And you had no clue," he replied, smirking. "How stupid can you be?"
"We trusted you. I trusted you. We welcomed you and cared for you, and now you betray us?"
"I don't feel any remorse betraying filthy animals," he spat.
"You know, Liam, I feel sorry for you."
"You feel sorry for me?" he asked incredulously.
"That tiny, closed mind of yours must be awfully uncomfortable, rattling around in your empty head."
His face contorted in rage and he lunged at me, fists flying.
I sidestepped out of the way and he spun around, swinging at me again. I caught his fist and held him off, while he strained against me, and I looked him right in the eye.
"You're the real monster," I whispered.
He fought even harder against me, and I let him go, dodging yet another of his jabs at me.
"HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A MONSTER?!" He shrieked, swinging blindly at me.
"A monster is someone who kills innocent people with no remorse, Liam, which is what you intend to do," I said, moving once more out of his range.
"Innocent?! You deserve to die!" He bellowed, leaping at me, catching me off guard and knocking me to the ground. Before I had time to get up, he was on top of me, his eyes ablaze with hatred, his arm coiled back and ready to strike.
"You'll burn in hell," he hissed, bringing his fist down on my face with sickening force.
I put my hands up to shield myself from his blows, resolving not to fight back, being the pacifist that I am. I knew with my powers, I could easily defeat him, but I was afraid I would hurt him in the process.
His fists flew at my face, and he hit me repeatedly. Blood oozed from my wounds and pooled on the concrete below me.
"You're just the first," he growled, hitting me harder.
His fist, red with my blood, bruised my eye.
"I'll kill them all, every last one," he continued, his blows increasing in frequency and magnitude.
His knuckles connected with my cheek, and blood trickled down, mingling with my tears.
I'd had quite enough of his abuse, but he showed no signs of stopping. I decided that maybe I'd have to use my power to stop his assault.
"Liam, please stop," I said. "I don't want to hurt you."
Laughing, he stopped his seemingly unrelenting blows. "You, hurt me?" His bloodied hands closed around my throat.
"You couldn't hurt a fly if you wanted to," he said.
"You have no idea what I'm capable of," I said, my eyes like steel.
"I know you better than you think," he replied, his grip tightening. "I know you would never hurt me, or anyone else, for that matter."
"Don't make me do this. Please," I wheezed, struggling to breathe.
"You're in no place to fight back, so why don't you die quietly, and preserve whatever shred of dignity you have left?" His unforgiving hands were crushing my throat, and I knew I had to do something soon.
"You've left me no choice," I rasped.
"Oh, come on, we both know you couldn't-" he began, before he was blasted backwards by a pulse of air I had manipulated. He landed with a thud a few feet away, and I gasped for oxygen, relief flooding though me as air rushed into my lungs. He stood up, and I saw blood trickling from a gash on his temple. He put his fingers to his wound, and when he saw the crimson dripping from them, his eyes burned with fury.
"You'll pay for that," he said, lunging at me again. He managed to hit me once more, clawing at my face, and I sent him flying with yet another blast of air. He skidded across the concrete, and when he rose, I saw blood in the corner of his mouth. I realized that he was not going to give up.
He glared at me, breathing heavily.
"This either ends with your death, or mine," he yelled. "Either you kill me first, or I kill you."
He wiped the blood away from his mouth.
    "You can't escape this."
    He charged again.
This time, I was ready. I moved out of his way and hit with with one last pulse of air, sending him toppling over the side of the building. He screamed as he fell, not knowing that a cushion of air I had created would stop his descent before he hit the ground.
I leapt from building to building, riding air currents and creating concrete bridges, until I'd reached the base. I warned the others of the danger, and had Sam move them somewhere safe, as I trusted her to find somewhere Liam would not be able to follow.
Then I returned to face Liam one last time.
When I reached the building, he was sitting silently, waiting. He looked up when my feet met the concrete, his expression regretful and pained.
"You saved me," he whispered. "I tried to kill you, and yet you didn't kill me."
I nodded slowly. He stared at my blood, dried on his hands, which lay limply in his lap.
    "Why?"
"Because you don't deserve to die, Liam."
"But I hurt you," he said, angrily. My eye throbbed where he had blackened it.
"That doesn't mean you should die," I said.
He began to cry, silent tears dripping down his cheeks.
"You were right," he managed, choking on sobs. "I am the monster."
I sat down next to him soundlessly, and he continued to cry.
"I'm so sorry," he said, guilt written across his face when he saw the damage he had done to me. "I'm so sorry I hurt you."
"I forgive you," I said, softly.
