    The War

    The Prairie

I am a military commander who oversees a squad underneath me. I run around a prairie-like landscape in an effort to find and fight some encroaching enemy troops. My troops have full body suits that are futuristic in design, which contrasts the open hills and forest of the surround. As we walk, we see no one in site. Could there be an ambush waiting for us? Perhaps, but only time will tell. As we move further past some trees, we arrive at what appears to be a small town. Only a few small buildings, which are scattered, gives us the impression that it was an outpost at some point long ago, thus we continue to march forward.

    The Portal

Something glimmers off in the distance. Arousing our curiosity, we begin to make our way to it. At the same time, we get our weapons ready in case of an ambush. We notice that it's a gateway to another place, where exactly is unknown. It has a fantasy design, but uses sci-fi materials. I then proceed with my troops to go through. What lies on the other side is a new world. The new lands have jutting mountains and an overall arid climate. I remember looking about and seeing everything in an orange-ish color, though I don't know if it was because of a setting sun, or because we moved into a hellish location. The dream begins to distort as we finally find the enemies. I can't quite remember what the enemies looked like, or if they were even human, just that the dream happened to change in the middle of a fight.

    Backyard
I'm in a backyard of a random house, doing nothing in particular. I am viewing myself in a third person perspective. The scene is very standard and nothing special sticks out. My grandparents happen to be over and we're all outside. Oddly, I remember that I'm working on lucid dreaming and decide to lay on the porch to try and achieve one. Nothing happens, and I don't do a reality check when I had failed. I thought to myself that I couldn't focus for one, and I could still see even though I closed my eyes, which was why I couldn't fall asleep and have a lucid dream. The dream ended after that.

    Conclusion
I think this was a fairly consistent dream, but had a strange ending. Plus, I seem to be focusing more on lucid dreaming as a whole more in my actual dreams. Still though, I need to work on reality checks more since dream recall isn't much of a problem, except for those times I get a dry spell. Oh well. Happy Dreaming!
