    What a Snore!

    #171 - 4:41AM - WILD/OBE

I am too wakeful during my WILD so I turn on the irrational thought while maintaining focus on my face and back of neck. Soon that "feeling" alerts me and I focus more on my body. The moment I do that the vibrations start.

I transition out easily unhindered this time but I notice a strange sound. It's my own snoring. It sounds odd and half like apnea, like my breathing is obstructed. I think that I just need to adjust my pillow or roll over to my side but I don't want the dream to end so soon. I try to just ignore it.

I go into the dark kitchen and flip the light switch. Nothing. I try again and imagine the florescent lights flickering on. It works! I am now in the well lit kitchen and notice how everything looks pretty much the same. Including those dishes we failed to do last night. My throat feels extremely dry and I see a glass of water on the floor. I pick it up and drink it but it tastes something like warm spit. I realize I am probably just swallowing drool in my sleep. Either way it's gross and I instinctively get some more water out of the tap only to have the same effect. Good God this snoring is annoying. I try to even out my breathing but it only helps when I concentrate on it. I decide to try to briefly wake myself and roll over but I feel stuck in the dream and can't wake up.

My efforts put me back in my dream bed and I feel like spinning and I do so until I am standing next to my bed. (NOTE TO SELF: This may prove to be a useful way of teleporting if I can change my location by changing my expectations.) I can still hear my horrible breathing and it really distracts me from any goals I have. I think about just holding my breath until I wake up but the last time I did that was really painful. I decide to just wait this one out and play with the environment. It's really dark again and I wander into the bathroom. I decide to get some light in here by opening the blinds. The right one was only dark void but the left one lit up the room. I look around and notice the shower is actually on the window side. This is totally backwards but it doesn't matter to me. Then, the dream starts getting dark and I concentrate on the light. I close and open the dark side and now there is twice the light.

For some reason the snoring is so distracting that I just literally hang out in the bathroom. I float up and climb on top of the shower doors. Then I hang there as menthol kicks in. (Is this really the expectation now?!) I imagine my wife coming in and giving me a blow job. She doesn't show up but now I am really excited. I float into the bedroom. I try not to look at my side of the bed and don't worry about seeing my other body. I focus just on her. She is awake sitting up and ready for me with a warm smile. The light coming in from the window makes me feel like it's early morning. The rest of the dream is none of your business! But ultimately my snoring was so distracting that I didn't fully enjoy it as much as I could have. At some point I closed my eyes during my love making and the dream broke apart waking me up. That was a bitter sweet moment as I was enjoying the realism of the dream but I was so glad that horrible sound stopped.

This is the second time I have had breathing issues on my back during a lucid. Perhaps I should look into that!

Well done on not allowing yourself to wake even though you were so aware of that sound! Maybe you were lying in an uncomfortable way?

Lol! Now I know what my dreams will be like when I'll have to share the room with mom and dad next week! If I ever get to sleep, that is.

Cool, so the spinning worked well for you then... nice. That's the class LaBerge style of changing location or stabilizing the scene but I've never really done much with it. I'll have to give this a shot.

Are you a back sleeper 100% of the time? Ever try side or stomach?

Spinning is usually unpredictable and seems to crash the dream but I think it could be useful at this stage.

I usually sleep on my back or right side. It seems my left side causes undesirable dream. Maybe its just suggestive from my Tibetan Dream Yoga research but it seems to be true.

Do you remember what sort of dream crashing it usually engendered? Was it like a "bolt awake" kind of crash or do you tend to... end up in the void? Because if so, we're not as scared of that as we once were.

So many things to try. I really need to get lucid in every single dream from now on. That would help me progress so much more quickly.

I guess it's more of a void thing. I just tend to have darkness issues that I avoid it all costs. Sometimes it all I can do to keep it from surrounding me like a thick cloud so I need visuals to stabilize it. I know the void can be useful but I haven't got a good handle on it yet. Maybe that should be my focus now.

Lol I know what you mean.

Yeah, the void is exciting while being stuck in a weird, dimly-lit room makes me feel stuck and claustrophobic. Maybe my focus really should be to turn situations like that into the void and work from there.

I think that you have a much better handle on the void than you give yourself credit for! All of your DEILD experience leaves you so well prepared for handling the void. I feel like it's really an extension of the same skillset, except with the void you are already starting in a dream with a dream body. At that point it's all down to building a new dream scene using any and every trick that comes to mind.

It's fun to revisit situations that used to worry you and realize now that they're well within your power to handle. Feels good.

I had noticed this as well few years ago, but have not been paying attention to it ever since.

Xanos, would you mind sharing what you read about sleeping position from your research?

NyxCC, it has to do with the belief of energy channels and chakras. According to Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, there are 3 root channels in the body. The three root channels are, in women, the red channel on the right side of the body, the white channel on the left, and the blue central channel. In men, the right channel is white and the left channel is red.

Red: Conduit for positive or wisdom energies. (right side for women, left side for men)
White: Energies of the negative emotions. (left side for women, right side for men)
Blue: Neutral (Center of the body)

So the idea is to sleep on the white channel to put pressure on it to close it slightly and allow the red channel to flow more freely, allowing one to have better dreams.

By the way, this dream: Where's the Doctor was a left side dream.

Thanks for the explanation! Now I get the idea. So the sides are reverse in men and women. Still, if I remember correctly I had some nightmares sleeping on the left, but also some of my knowledge related strange HIs are also coming from sleeping on my left side. Hmmm, very interesting...

All right then, I think I need to monitor this from now on and check back with the theory. It will be interesting if I get some more consistent results. Thanks and sweet dreams!

Yeah let me know how it turns out. I'd like to know how accurate this is.
