      Fennecgirl's Workbook

Hello, I'm fennecgirl, and I've been trying to LD for around a few weeks or so now. I haven't had any success YET, but I'm still trying!

I think what needs the most work is my awareness. I've been sort of trying to practice ADA, but I find it rather overwhelming and can usually only keep it up for a few minutes or so, so I need to work on that. I also need to work on my reality checks; I have several that I do, and I've set myself cues for when to do an RC, but I often forget.

As for induction techniques, I've mostly been using MILD and CALD interchangeably, though I've also tried WILD and VILD a few times. I haven't had any success with MILD or VILD yet, though. Last night, I tried to use self-hypnosis to make MILD more effective, but I ended up falling asleep before I was fully hypnotized. Tonight, I've decided I'm also going to say my mantra first, just in case I fall asleep too early again. Also, I like CALD because I can also talk with my characters during the day whenever I want (as well as at bedtime, of course), but they haven't managed to find their way into any of my dreams yet. As for WILD... well, I had a rather interesting (albeit unsuccessful) WILD experience a couple weeks ago, but, as this is my DILD workbook, I'll spare you the details.

      Welcome to our workshop!

Yes, ADA can get quite time consuming. Here is a shorter awareness technique, plus everything else you can do for DILD/MILD.

And in this WILD class in DV Academy, is a great explanation of awareness. Also tons of great stuff for WILD. Please feel free to check it out.

I have never tried CALD (a technique in which you create or harvest a dream character from a dream and work with them), and I have not seen it discussed here, so have no experience with it. But I guess is something like visualizing and incubating your dream. Sounds interesting.

My favorite method is RCs, mantras and awareness training. Glad you joined, please ask, if there is anything I can help with. Happy dreams

Thanks for the tutorial links! I think the self-awareness does sound easier than practicing ADA.

I had my first LD this morning! It didn't last long, but at least I became lucid. Hopefully, my next one will be a bit longer. Details are in my dream journal, by the way.

      Yeah, that's awesome, congrats!

First few tend to be rather short, mostly because of the excitement. It will get better. Now would be good time to read some stabilization tutorials and DEILD tutorial. These are just two of the many tuts and posts that I'm sure you will find in the forum.

Good luck with your next LD. Happy dreams

Thanks! You're, like, a tutorial encyclopedia or something! xD

By the way, do you have any advice for remembering what DCs look like? That's something I often struggle with. I met a DC this morning who seemed somehow important, like she could possibly even be my dream guide, but I can hardly remember how she looked. I want to be able to recognize her if I see her again, though.

I think I was close to becoming lucid last night. I did notice that something wasn't right (i.e., I was talking to my dad, who was supposedly dead in the dream), but, rather than questioning reality or thinking it could be a dream, I began to suspect that perhaps it was all staged and he was just pretending. *sigh* At least I realized that wasn't normal...

I did it! I had my second LD!

What's weird is that it started out as a false awakening, so it felt just like waking up without recalling any dreams. I've never had an FA at the very beginning of a dream before. This LD was a lot more stable than the last, and I had a lot of control over myself this time, as opposed to the other one, in which I only had some control.

I still need to work on controlling the dream itself, though. I tried to teleport by closing my eyes and telling myself where I would be when I opened them, then I opened my eyes, but I was still in the same place as before.

      Congrats on all your lucids!

I guess, a mantra could help you remember DCs. A friend of mine uses something like this: "I wake up with full memories". You can, of course, alter it. You can make your own mantras for pretty much anything.
I have not tried teleporting myself yet. I guess it may take practice. Did you visualize the place you wanted to go to? You can also try making a doorway and walk through it. Happy dreams.
